Now that we seem to be going into a depression (we even have a Roosevelt style public works programme announced by the government!) I thought OSers might like to know some good cheer-up music from the last depression. They knew how to write good songs to make you feel better in those days. It's all free on Youtube. Here's my list:
Happy Days are Here Again - Ben Selvin and the Crooners
The Laughing Policeman - Charles Jolly
Happy Feet - Cab Calloway
Livin' in the Sunlight, Lovin' in the Moonlight - Bratislava Serenaders
Painting the Clouds with Sunshine - Jack Hylton
Yes, Yes, My Baby Said Yes - Ambrose and his orchestra
Cheerful Little Earful - Chestor Leighton and his Sophomores
Keep Young and Beautiful - Roy Fox and his band
The Best Things in Life are Free - Jack Hylton
Down Sunnyside Lane - Al Bowlly/Ray Noble
Every Day's a Holiday - Al Bowlly
