Prune and yoghurt cake recipe
Okay, this is a bit of a long shot but a long time ago, probably 20 years, I had a recipe for a delicious prune cake which had yoghurt in it. It may have been made with wholemeal flour(?). I can't remember where it came from. I've searched my cookbooks and the internet but can't find it. Does anyone have this recipe? TIA.

Removing kids paint stains??
Hi, I'm hoping you'll be able to suggest something that will remove poster paint (ELC) stains from my daughters clothing?? She loves to paint, and I love her to do it, she's very good and wears an apron and doesn't make much mess, but she's got her sleeves a few times and I have several stained tops now. I just can't get…

How much cheese is in your cauliflower cheese recipe?
Hi there:D, I'm trying to frugalise a cauliflower cheese recipe for 4 people. It will also have mustard in the sauce, and will be used to flavour a 907g bag of frozen cauliflower. Recipes on the internet vary widely, BBC good food reckons you can get away with 50g cheddar, whereas James Martin has a staggering 250g in his,…

What frugal find came your way today?
I'm not talking groceries here, (although they are wonderful too:j) I mean items that you had decided not to purchase but came your way in frugal fashion - asked around for and were gifted, freecycled, found in a skip or on the street, charity shop, or home-made by someone for you. A couple of weeks ago I was admiring a…

Pastry Scraps and nibble ideas please
What do you do with your pastry scraps? I use ready roll pastry for quiches and pies but I always have some scraps leftover. Normally I make about 6 jam tarts from these scraps and bung them in the oven with the quiche or whatever. I would like other ideas as I was thinking it might be a good idea to make a few savoury…

Egyptian cotton bed linen
I've always had cheapo poly-cotton bed linen, but about 8 weeks ago I decided to treat myself to a 400 count egyptian cotton king size duvet cover, pillowcases and flat sheet. However it's a pig to launder and it's driving me mad :( I'm washing them at 60°C with powder and fabric softener. The washer has a 1600 spin, but…
