Old plain flour

Just sorting out and restocking my baking cupboards and I've found some plain flour dated Sept 07. Its been in a sealed container and has no 'bits' in it - is it still ok to use?
Thought I could make pancakes with it but don't want to use it if its bad,

We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.

I'm a bit faddy with food so its not something i would use up.
For the sake of just pence i would buy some new plain flour, if you dont use much at any one time just buy a 1lb bag, afte pancakes use it up for yorkshire puds, scones etc.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Old flour tends to be drier and can mess up the consistency of something like pancakes. I can't see how it would pose any health risks if you did use it, but as the above posters says, flour isn't expensive so its probably a better idea just to replace it.The Summer Holiday of a Lifetime0 -

There's no wheatgerm in plain white four so there's nothing in it to make it go rancid. I'd use it up, no problem0

If it was always sealed and no air got in it then it should be ok but use it quickly.0
