OS Daily Thread - Tuesday 16th February 2010

Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 16th February. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

Morning OS lovelies,
Mooloo and Tia24 - Lovely to see you posting with us.
Lowesy and Nic1 - both still in my thoughts
Hester - Thank you hon
SunnyGirl - You have a open invitation anytime hon!
flutterby - Have a great time at the wedding.
Julie - Glad you are feeling better and do try not to worry, you cannot change the outcome so try not to upset yourself.
Taplady - I can't remember if you told us if they really were snakes or slow worms last time we talked about them? I know you hate them but you are very lucky to have them if they are snaked, and if they were slow worms then they are gorgeous and are really just legless newts so not snakey at all really. :rotfl:Slow worms live in little colonies so it might have been them in your garden.
Cranky - thinking of you and the house elf
Penpin - Make sure you rest hon!
Molly -
redruby - We do an online shop about every 3 wks and then my OH tops up in the middle, it's cheaper and easier for us that way.

Breakfast today is back to Weetabix and bananas, and lunch will be left over chicken breast (from a ready-cooked YS pack my OH picked up last night) made into coronation chicken for sandwiches. Dinner will be the rest of the sausage casserole we made last night which had a lovely kick of chilli in it.
Somehow we managed to eat an entire HM loaf yesterday between the two of us so the BM is back on today as is the WM.
I hope everyones day is as good as it can be, and that anyone feeling poorly
feels better soon. With love, light and squishy
for all.

Morning Diva and all who follow

Happy pancake day to you all - I am toying with the idea of making some pancakes now, as DD won't be here tonight  not sure if I'll have enough time before work though.
Well after an excruciatingly long wait (I took the exam at the beginning of December and was absolutely convinved I'd failed) I finally got my exam results yesterday - and I passed :j I can't tell you what a (lovely) shock that was
OS wise not much going on, work today, might do some ironing when I get home. Dinner tonight will be chicken fajitas
Hope you all have lovely daysSquares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)0 -
Good morning
I haven't posted on here for a week or so. I never have very much to say really, having given up my job last year and now stay at home. I didn't think you would be interested to hear how I've managed to put on a stone and am now trying to lose it!!
The point of posting today is to tell everyone about a wonderful message I had yesterday on FB. About 15 years ago one of out childrens friends was going through a rough time (rough upbringing really). He was being brought up by his grandparents as neither of his parents wanted him, from an early age. Needless to say life wasn't that great for him. Anyway, our two befriended him and he used to stay at our house, treated as one of the family.
Over the years we lost touch, as you do. Yesterday I logged on to FB to find a message waiting for me from T. After all these years he found me (we've moved twice), and wanted to thank us for all we did for him, telling us we were "cool" step-parents. A meeting is in the offing, to meet our adopted grand-daughter. It really is the little things, I'm walking on air today.
OS wise I planned to go window shopping today, but may manage abottle of wine and something special to eat for tonight - if I see anything YS of course:rotfl:
Have a great day everyone, sorry for rambling on.0 -
Morning peeps
warm and raining here this morning, hope that the increase in temperature stays with us as i`ve been able to turn the heating down another notch this morning, little oldie is comfortable and thats what matters.
I`ve put a load in the washing machine this morning so i shall hang that on the airers later when i get home and i`ve left the dishwasher and bread maker for DH to sort out as neither had finished before i left the house.
Not sure about tea later - don`t think i`m really in the mood for pancakes so we may have giant yorkshire puddings filled with lincolnshire sausages, veg and onion gravy
 Crikey i could eat that now just thinking about it
Not a lot else to report really so i`ll check back later to see what everyone is up to.
Bitsy - Glad its not just our coats that are out of control
SOMO1 - Congratulations :j:Twell done!
Have a good day everyone.

Hi,
Well its quiet in here today. I guess its half term so people are having a lie-in.
Remmie - its lovely when you re-connect with people. I saw some school friends who I had lost touch with and it was like we had never been apart and it was so lovely to see them. Now we meet up every xmas when my oldest friend comes home from Germany.
Well DD came home from Cornwall with a pile of washing. She seems to have had a lovely time but its making my youngest son wistful for a holiday. He asked her to bring back a jam jar of sand. So I have decided somehow somewhere we WILLL be going on holiday this year!!!! I will have to step up the OS and seriously save some pennies.
I have drawn a truce with DS1 as he is gonna have to have an op on his knee which will mean he is out of playing rugby for up to a year. He was gutted yesterday as it means such a lot to him. So he is mooching around. Its his birthday on Saturday so need to organise that so hopefully that will cheer him up.
Pancake day today...love them. I normally have four frying pans on the go as my lot absolutely adore them but will need help this year. Im sure I will have some willing volunteers!
Hope everyone has a lovely day x
Well done Stressed Out Mum of 1 on your exam resultsxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Morning
Have to get organised even earlier - have to take DS1 to work for 8:30 in one direction, DS2 to Tech in another direction and me to work for 9 in a different direction again! Not too bad this week but not dure how its going to work when the kids are back at school!
I feel like I could sleep for a week - has a very disturbed night probably as I fell asleep in the chair and woke up really annoyed with DH as I'd dreamed I could see the Northern Lights out of the bedroom window and he wouldn't wake up to look:rotfl:
Any way need to go turn the left over mince into tonights chilli
Laters

Morning all
Lazy start here, instead of rushing round before I took hubby to the station, I shall rush around after I've had my breakfast.
I'm going to help a friend do some decluttering later today, so just need to get the DW & WM going before I go.
I hope eveyone has a good day.
Hugs Hester

Morning everyone.
Not much going on at Chez Bitsy. My Millionaire's Shortbread is lush but boy oh boy is it a faff to make. I think it will be a once in a blue moon treat as I prefer things I can quickly throw together and then leave to bake rather than having to keep doing things in stages
Made some headway into the pile of washing, on a couple more loads to do. Might do a bit more cleaning today - truth be told I just can't be bothered with it
I have all these wonderful ideas of de-cluttering and sorting out things but kids want to get out and about and by the time we come back I've got zero energy. How do you peeps motivate yourselves to keep on top of it all?
Tea tonight I think will be ham with mash and peas and pickle
Just have to get it out of the freezer.
Stressedmum - well done on passing your exam. That's fab news :j
Molly - glad to see you've called a truce with your DS x
remmie - being a SAHM-come-childminder my posts tend to be a bit repetitive. Likewise am still trying to lose the baby weight (eek it's going to be 2 years since I gave birth this July and I am no further forward :0) so if you've got any motivational tips etc please feel free to share LOL! I am interested to hear about how you are doing. what a lovely way to start the day with an email from someone you lost touch with
Diva - when we are all at home (H, me and the kids) it's not unusual for us to eat a HM loaf a day
Off to read the end of yesterdays thread. Hugs to those that need them. Have a good day OS or not.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

Morning all,
Seems a bit milder here today, hopefully its the start of spring, when I took little dog our for her walk yesterday we came back through the village church and there were some snowdrops in bloom, and the daffs were peeping through :T
Only three more sleeps till dd comes home
, I am sure she is having the best time, but I do miss her so much.
Dinner tonight will be salmon steak, with noodles and a mushroom and cream sauce with brocoli.
Need to go and shove a wash on, and hoover through, I did do two weeks shopping online yesterday, the price was a bit , but it was cheaper than two individual weeks iykwim, will go and have another look today to see if I can save any more.
I won a beautiful chair on ebay last night, its this one, I did not pay that much, but it was more than I would normally pay
, but I did love it and its my birthday next month
OH will collect it tonight for me :T
My OH met the Duchess of Norfolk yesterday, he has been doing some work on Arundel Castle, and she came to thanks him for the great work
:T
Ok better get on, need more tea and toast,
SOMO1 well done on your exam results :T
Remmie, what a nice story :T, enjoy your meet xx0 -
Bitsy - Its not baby weight, my youngest will be 30 next month:rotfl: Its just laziness I'm afraid after a lifetime of working.0

Morning all!
DD going out with her dad today and then back to my mums for pancakes for tea. i'm plannng on a quick vac round and then to get a bit more clearing done in the garden before I set off for my hospital appointment. I may treat myself to a very unOS bought curry tonight-either as a consellation if the appointment goes badly or a celebration if they agree to investigate why after 2 years of trying (with a donor and a syringe) I can't get pregnant. As I'm single(and the way Im ttc) I don't know if they will agree to do the investigations and to be quite honest I'm not very optimistic but I know that they shouldn't discriminate but I'm not very good at standing up for my own rights.
Anyhow at least to keep my mind off it I'm sure to get loads done before I leave which is always very satisfying.
Hope everyone has a good day.
