Leftover fondue cheese?
I made a fondue on saturday with a pack of fondue cheese, it's the readymade kind in a vacuum pouch that you just heat & serve. Now I have half a pack of fondue cheese left over; and I'm not sure what to do with it. It's got a slightly odd creamy crumbly texture, and it contains kirsch so I can't use it for sandwiches or…

Being more organised in the kitchen
This is probably one of the silliest questions ever asked... But, I am moving into a student house soon, which has a tiny kitchen. I have a problem in that when I cook I tend to splurge the mess everywhere! So, how do people cook, tidily? Do you wash up as you go along? Do you prepare all the ingredients beforehand? Thanks!

Lidl meat?
Ok i normally only buy 'junk' food from lidl. For some reason I am snobby about their meat. Does and have experiences, good or bad, with lidl meat? We are heading tonight so may get some just to try any way. Thanks.

Has anyone used a Pressure Cooker on a gas camping stove?
I was looking at a couple of Pressure cookers that are within my price range but the write ups say that they are ok for gas but the bottoms buckle slightly, so they aren't as good on other cookers. Our cooker was in the house when we bought it and has a glass halogen hob so I wouldn't be able to use some of the pressure…

Lentil shortage
Has anyone noticed a shortage of red lentils recently? About 8 weeks ago my DH who works for a large national catering company told me that one of his suppliers had hiked up the price of lentils saying there was a shortage developing from their sources in India. Needless to say when he told me I just laughed but picked up…

Hydrogen Peroxide - Where to buy?
I'm looking to buy some 3% hydrogen peroxide to remove a blood stain dried on leather... I went to the chemist to be told they don't sell it (it's a bomb making ingredient apparently so I'm guessing that's why)... I only want about half a thimble full - anybody any ideas where else sells it?

Vacuum/thermos flasks.
Hi All, OH and I have started going out more often and always take a packed lunch, however now the colder weather is arriving we like to take hot drinks rather than squash/juice. I don't drink coffee so we tend to want tea, however tea in flasks seems to always taste funny, like old cabbage to me!! Can anyone provide a…

Discoloured metal grate
This post is going to sound a bit random as I'm not sure of all the details, but here goes! We moved into a house recently which has a beautiful metal grate in the living room. I am not sure what metal the grate is made from but it is a matt grey/silver colour. My daughter managed to get hold of a bottle of something in a…

Please tell me I can freeze apples without peeling and coring them!
Our little apple tree in the garden has produced a bumper crop this year and I have a large basket of apples to freeze. I am quite short of time at the moment as have 3 boys to look after (3 year old, new baby and hubby :) ) and so really really hope that I don't need to peel core slice stew and cool all these apples. Is…

Warm beef mince in the fridge?
Hi all Today I made a large stock pot of lentil based curry with the idea of making several curries with different meats / veggies. The lentil stuff is now cold and I have mixed in a bean mix from a tin. I have cooked some beef mince with a little of the same curry paste and wish to add the lentil base without possibly…

Creamed coconut question!
Hope this is the right place to post this? It has been many years but I intend to make a curry using creamed coconut. However.. I have some creamed coconut in 50g sachets. The recipe I've found calls for 400ml coconut milk. How do I convert the creamed coconut into 400ml coconut milk? Or can't I? How many sachets do i…

Le Creuset Stainless Steel Cookware, Advice Please
I am thinking about buying some Le Creuset Stainless Steel Cookware and have been reading as much as I can about them since they are so expensive. One review I read (not on this board) said that the only negative thing this person could say about them was that they discoloured slightly when used on a gas hob. Do any of you…

Tea Tree Oil Accident
I spilled half a bottle of tea tree oil in the kitchen cupboard. I use it for deterring head lice, by adding it to the hair products (doesn't work), and lost the lid. So I popped it in the cupboard so it didn't get knocked over the work tops. Silly me. Anyhoo, I've taken everything out, disposed of all open packets which…
