OS Daily Thread - Monday 22 September

Hi, this is the OS Daily thread for Sunday 21st September. It is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning All.
Hope Im not being too presumptuous. Have been awake since 4.15 and have run out of things to do on my pc.
Dont know why I suddenly woke up at that time. But was wide awake instantly and could not get back to sleep. So am up now with a large cup of tea. Will probably fall asleep at work later on (do you think theyll notice???)
Anyway, havent caught up on the threads for the past few days so will quickly scan through.
Congratulations to all celebrating today, and lots of ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) to all in need.
LG

Morning Lady Grim, presume away
Mr Twit has headed off towards Doncaster and I'm having a quick surf before attacking the world.
One of my colleagues has to take her daughter to hospital this morning, so we've swapped shifts and I'm working until 2 instead of my usual 5-7 shift. I've sorted out our washing to take with me, just need to get Miss Twits.
I've entered my meter readings on the Imeasure site and there is a cheap energy meter at Aldi this week. (thanks Espresso on the utilities board)
Sending hugs to Ulrick & Marie, I hope he is soon home with you and back fighting fit.
Hugs also to those in need and those with poorly OH's, Beth, Joanna'smum & silvercharming immediately spring to mind, but I know there are several more OH's with ongoing hospital visits.

Morning folks.
The fine weather continues down this way with a perfect dry and sunny day yesterday and weekend. It is set to continue which is great.
I managed to cut some grass yesterday and get a few things tidied up. The round the day off with a family BBQ. Today I am going to attack the shed and also paint the galvanise roof, as I enjoy another day off. Short week this week as I am only working 3 days as I took time off.
Son if off to Dartmoor this week on a college hike, so he is busy getting his gear packed.
Well time to get packed lunches started and get moving...
CheersNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Morning all,
I was up early this morning too so I'm just starting to flag now. It's just after 3pm. Got a nice strong brew in front of me.It's also a warm day & I've just gotten home from shopping & put the groceries away. Mmmm make that exhausted.
I did some baking this morning and been sewing DGS some boxer shorts. XDIL said she'd be down here for arv tea but I couldn't wait.
Have to take Benny to the vet tomorrow morning as he has conjunctivitis in one of his eyes. I have to catch the ferry at 7.30am with DGS. Should be fun. The road works are coming along. Done the guttering and they are now grading so the cement should be poured shortly. Went to Bollywood on Saturday at the Casino and we loved it. I can remember vaguely when I had a lovely little flat stomach. The next show is Abba, so I've told DH we are definately going to that one.
<hugs> to MeanMarie & any others that need it. Hope you all have a lovely day. ByeeeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Morning all,
meanmarie, I hope the scan results today are positive. Thinking of you.
I'm up nice and early as we have to leave for the airport at 9.00 o'clock and I have to get the boys organised for three days at school and after school activities. Dd was out partying last night and doesn't want to get up.
It looks like it's going to be a lovely morning here. No old styling for me for the next couple of days.Well that's if you don't count buying groceries and store cupboard items for dd when we get there.
Right, coffee's drunk so I'd better get on.

Morning all
Hugs to all, especially MM & her OH.
Dropped hubby at the station a while ago & I'm on on my 2nd or 3rd cuppa.
Off to work in a while, if it's not too busy, I'll try to speak to my boss, it's only now I feel better that I realise how bad I felt last week. I need to nip this in the bud, too many people at work who feel they are too important to help me. I have decided that next time we have a paper delivery & I get no help, I'll take the next day off sick, that way I'll feel better quicker.
I made another 9 apple crumbles & next I'm making Dorset Apple Bake as we are having a cake sale for MacMillan later on this week. The recipe in on the BBC Good Cook website.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Good Morning All
(((hugs))) if needed. Meanmarie - Good Luck for today.
Not so cold here this morning, actually put the heating for an hour yesterday.
Have office work and ironing to do today. Also need to sort something for dinner, we were meant to be having chicken rice but had an extra person for dinner and there is no leftovers.
Our guest told me about a local slaughterhouse (sorry any veggies) that has a shop attached to it so may try and go and have a look later, see if it is a lot cheaper. Have been looking at buying half a pig, have load of lamb and beef farms around here but no pigs.
Anyway best get on, finish my tea and wake up DD.
Oh and Strictly last night - I wanted Gary to go but glad Don stayed in for another week.

Morning all.
Looks like another good day here, I need to get the beds stripped and washed so will try and go that this morning.
DD is off to school and is making bread, she has been asked to take bread flour, ( but not how much  ) and 10p for ingredients, cant wait for the results :T
Got roast lamb for dinner today, did not do it yesterday as we did not fancy it, we had jacket spuds and bits instead.
I also need to do an online shop, and dd has requested some cookies, so thats my day filled.
Marie, hope all goes well for you and your DH hugs to you both xx
Pink, good luck for today, I hope all goes well, big hugs xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning All
((HUGS)) to all those who want/need them.
I really need to get back on track with MSE cos have slipped badly since going back to work full time. Finding time to do packed lunches, stopping take-aways and monitoring every penny I spend will definitely help!! You'd think that seeing as my light-bulb moment was over 2 years ago I'd be a pro by now:rolleyes:
I've started by writing post it notes and sticking them on mugs in the cupboard e.g. Shopping, Dancing, Petrol etc... and then later I'm going to draw out my weekly budget and put it in the right mug and then banish my card until it's time to draw out next weeks)
My last unbudgeted spend was yesterday when I went horse riding .... and thoroughly enjoyed it but cant walk without looking like John Wayne today :rotfl:
My lovely parents came round yesterday and went food shopping for me :beer: I should hopefully only have to get washing powder and milk out of the shopping budget this week :T
Today DD's have dentist so need to get to work early so can finish early. Am cooking chicken, rice and peas and was going to do fried dumplings, but started weight watchers (without paying) yesterday so will behave myself
I've hung out one load of washing and put another on (hope it's hot like yesterday to dry it quickly) and have started on packed lunches.
Am on top of housework cos didn't want parents to see house in a state yesterday so blitz it
I've got a job interview mid-morning so fingers and toes crossed that it goes smoothly.
Hope everyone has a great day xxxJUST DO IT ONE BRICK AT A TIMEPROUD TO BE DEALING WITH MY DEBTSWeekly Budget: groceries£50/petrol£50/Unnecesary£15DEBT PAID = 58% (£4,212/£8216):T0 -
Good morning everyone.
Meanmarie - good luck with the scan results today. (((Hugs))) to DH.
Hester - no-one is more important than anyone else no matter what job they do. I'm glad you are feeling better and hope that you can sort things out at work so that you are not doing so much.
I also wanted Gary to go on Strictly; he's got guts to go on but I can't see any potential there at all! And I do wish he'd grow up and get rid of that awful hairstyle! I suppose it's his 'signature'! I'm not expecting Don to last long but I'd hate to see Lilia out this early because I think she's one of the best professional dancers.
Well, the weather looks great again today so I hope it lasts for a few days.
(((Hugs))) to moky, PenPin, Jayward, Beth and her family, CAndygirl's Dad and Essex-girl's Dad and all who are in need.
Churchmouse - :hello: :hello: :hello:
I need to go to DS1's and pick up a couple of CDs to load some things onto my computer that I lost when it crashed last week. I lost all my favourites and all the addresses in my email address book so I shall have to replace those over the next couple of weeks. I went to email someone yesterday and the address book was empty! The computer thinks it's brand new so I have had to re-install the printers, Skype and numerous other things.
Anyway, sausages with bubble-and-squeak for dinner tonight so that will be easy.
Well, I'm going to have a shower and then get cracking on the chores.
See you all later.

MARIE hope it is good news about Ulrick's scan, thinking of you all.
PENPIN meant to say yesterday, I really hate hair extentions, there's nothing like a full head of natural, long, well-kept hair on a woman (or man!). Hope you are ok today.
Big hugs to anyone who needs one. Had a busy day yesterday what with cleaning, homework, taking DS swimming and Sis-in-Law coming around for dinner. DS now has his glasses and I hope it will make a big difference to his schoolwork.
Tea tonight is soup made with odds and ends. Off to the tip with a load of garden rubbish this morning. Then want to carry on cutting down the shrubs in the back garden. It's a huge job as it hasn't been done for years.
Off for a shower.
Have a good day all.
