Just as a discussion point....
It is our wedding anniversary today. We have been married 18 years. What with colds, coming back from the wonderful holiday and the chaos of unpacking, darling father staying, and all the other bits and pieces we have not arranged to do anything.
I really don't mind. Dear heart always makes me feel special, all the year through. I always wanted to be married and the wedding was just something to get through in order to do that.
I am a little concerned that dear heart may feel a little cheated, but he is so exhausted I don't know what he would be able to do.
Is it wrong not to bother with a wedding anniversary? We haven't even got each other cards. I do feel that cards are getting a bit silly. I haven't yet seen a card saying 'congratulations on opening your door on a Tuesday' but I am confident it is only a matter of time.Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0 -

I'm sure that your DH will not feel cheated in teh slightest - why not set the table for dinner and put a candle in the middle (to make it a bit more special than normal. I have been known to drink diluting juice out of a wine glass in order to feel a bit more special) - give him a big hug and tell him you love him. Afterall it's not the special days that make a marriage - it's all the 'everyday' things that tend to get forgotten that are important :j
Oh and happy anniversaryr.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
WANNABESYBIL, I had an email sent to me with a lovely poem, perhaphs you could show it to your DH and follow with a kiss. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY.
THIS IS WHY I ALWAYS SAY I LOVE YOU
IF I KNEW IT WOULD BE THE LAST TIME
THAT I'D SEE YOU FALL ASLEEP,
I WOULD TUCK YOU IN MORE TIGHTLY
AND PRAY THE LORD, YOUR SOUL TO KEEP.
IF I KNEW IT WOULD BE THE LAST TIME
THAT I SEE YOU WALK OUT THE DOOR,
I WOULD GIVE YOU A HUG AND KISS
AND CALL YOU BACK FOR ONE MORE.
IF I KNEW IT WOULD BE THE LAST TIME
I'D HEAR YOUR VOICE LIFTED UP IN PRAISE,
I WOULD VIDEO TAPE EACH ACTION AND WORD,
SO I COULD PLAY THEM BACK DAY AFTER DAY.
IT I KNEW IT WOULD BE THE LAST IME
I COULD SPARE AN EXTRA MINUTE
TO STOP AND SAY 'I LOVEYOU'
INSTEAD OF ASUMING YOU KNOW IT.
IF I KNEW IT WOULD BE THE LAST TIME
I WOULD BE THERE TO SHARE YOUR DAY,
WELL I'M SURE YOU'LL HAVE SO MANY MORE
SO I CAN LET JUST THIS ONE SLIP AWAY.
FOR SURELY THERE'S ALWAYS TOMORROW
TO MAKE UP FOR AN OVERSIGHT,
AND WE ALWAYS GET A SECOND CHANCE
TO MAKE EVERYTHING JUST RIGHT.
THERE WILL ALWAYS BE ANOTHER DAY
TO SAY 'I LOVE YOU'
AND CERTAINLY THERE'S ANOTHER CHANCE
TO SAY 'ANYTHING I CAN DO?
BUT JUST INCASE I MIGHT BE WRONG, AND TODAY IS ALL I GET,
I'D LIKE TO SAY HOW MUCH I LOVE YOU
AND I HOPE WE NEVER FORGET.
TOMORROW IS NOT PROMISED TO ANYONE
YOUNG OR OLD ALIKE,
AND TODAY MAY BE THE LAST CHANCE
YOU GET TO HOLD YOUR LOVED ONE TIGHT.
SO IF YOU'RE WAITING FOR TOMORROW, WHY NOT DO IT TODAY?
FOR IF TOMORROW NEVER COMES,
YOU'LL SURELY REGRET THIS DAY.
THAT YOU DIDN'T TAKE THE EXTRA TIME
FOR A SMILE, A HUG OR A KISS
AND YOU WERE TO BUSY TO GRANT SOMEONE
WHAT TURNED OUT TO BE THEIR ONE LAST WISH.
SO HOLD YOUR LOVED ONE CLOSE TODAY,
AND WHISPER IN THEIR EAR,
TELL THEM HOW MUCH YOU LOVE THEM
AND THAT YOU'LL ALWAYS HOLD THEM DEAR.
TAKE TIME TO SAY 'I'M SORRY'
PLEASE FORGIVE ME, THANK YOU, OR IT'S O.K.
AND IF TOMORROW NEVER COMES,
YOU'LL HAVE NO REGRETS ABOUT TODAY.
Sorry i had caps on and didn't want to retype it.0 -
WELCOME LAINEYC!!!
At lunch time I rang BG to change from a prepayment metre to monthly bills and they won't let me because I failed the credit check!!! I can't believe it - there's nothing wrong with my credit apart from one blip 5.5years ago*(
And then ... on the way home from work I got a call saying that I didn't get the job*(
Am feeling a bit sorry for myself but I guess it's not the end of the world.
Hope everyone else is having a better day xxJUST DO IT ONE BRICK AT A TIMEPROUD TO BE DEALING WITH MY DEBTSWeekly Budget: groceries£50/petrol£50/Unnecesary£15DEBT PAID = 58% (£4,212/£8216):T0 -

WANNABEESYBIL HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!
Have been fiddling about today with bits and pieces, haven't really achieved much. Got a lovely bunch of flowers from Mum and Dad for passing my degree.
Tea was soup with leftover veg and lentils in it, leftover rice pudding to follow and Hm strawberry jam. Yummy!
Off to sort out kitchen and do lunchboxes for tomorrow.
Have a good evening all.

Evening everyone.
Just popped on to see how Mr Mean Marie is doing. Still thinking off you both. xx
Kaat Lady.... The grocery challenge has changed according to the general consensus of what should happen. Why don't you contact the MSE team if you are disgusted by the board guides implementation of the guidelines.
Miss Pink is safely in place and I hope that Pink enjoys the break from Old style for a few days. :T :T :T
Busy OS day today. We finally got the nice weather most people had last week so I got 4 loads out to dry. Finished decorating the spare room which is to become a TV room for the girls. Managed to get the main veg bed dug over and transplanted my spuds to a bigger planter.
Tuna pasta bake for tea, girls are at Brownies and I'm out at 7 to a School Board meeting.
Take care everyone.

Sorry peeps
I am very late today, I've been with mum, she is so poorly. The pills the Doctor gave her for the chest infection and the others for gout, have really made her ill, she cant keep anything down even water, and they have really upset her stomach,She has had nothing to eat since Saturday.
The Doctor came in lunch time, examined her and took the pills away, but told her to still take the amoxycillin (sp?)
She has such terrible pain in her back, and was told thats the result of the pills, and the locum Doctor should'nt have given them to her.
She looks terrible, and the back pain is not getting any easier, its made worse as she has osteoporosis, and chronic arthiritis.
I am going over tomorrow and hope she feels a little better then.
It breaks my heart to see her like this and I cant do anything.
I have read through but cant remember anything, sorry
Anne

Spent all day trying to do as Martin suggested and not have the money for our house move all in one place.
Went to a couple of banks and got things sorted and then decided to go to crapwest!!! which is our joint bank where DH and I have a current account-so expected things to be nice and simple- all set to get a new savings account when bank manager decides to overrule the guy I was talking to and arrange for me to see a "special adviser!"
I was booked an appointment so quickly I hardly registered what was going on and had no chance to point out that I consider myself to be financially astute and had no need or desire to see someone thank you.
Got home absolutely fuming and ranted at DH!!
Have now decided to phone tomorrow and cancel the appointment.
As they appear incapable of doing what I want I will find somewhere else that will!
Seriously considering moving the account we have had with them for over 20 years. I should have realised when the guy I spoke to tried to sell me an ISA before even finding out what I wanted!!!
He seemed a bit surprised when I informed him icily that we had just moved anything stocks and shares related OUT before the market sank like a stone!
Had a cup of coffee then made baked trout with cauli cheese and cabbage for tea.
Was doing really well cutting spending to save for a Remoska then found out roof needs looking at and have electrician fixing a couple of sockets in the kitchen tomorrow.
Hugs to everyone that could do with one especially Hester, pennypincher, meanmarie, jet, betheebee and candygirl.
