    Afternoon!

Not achieving much at all today! Meant to be typing up some confidential stuff for oh, but mse is so much more interesting - good job I can type fast!

My neighbour phoned to ask me to have her little girl after school, as her dad (my neighbours, not the lo's dad) has just had a stroke. I can't believe that another person has had one that I know. There just seems to be so much gloom around, still fingers crossed that things go well for him.

Beth - what a nightmare day you had, you really have been doing so much and dealing with so many things it's not surprising that you forgot your keys. I hope that you are having a lovely relaxing day today, and that Ben is doing well. I'm sure your dd and sil will be thrilled when they do get home tonight.

Marie - I hope that you get some really positive news about Ullick soon.

Jet - sounds like the interview went well, I hope you have some good news before the end of the day.

Penpin - I hope that your helper gets herself organised soon, it does sound like she really hasn't got the support structure to do this job at the moment.

Moliere - think I shall join you in that cuppa now! Might have a slice of the choc ganache tart that the kids made whilst I was asleep yesterday, looks delicious!

PenPen - I can't believe that your helper hasn't got her childcare sorted out again! I do hope that you manage ok and find a replacement soon.

Beth - Gosh me - what a day! Your DD will love the make-over so I'm sure that the drama was worth it :D Just you and your DH look after yourselves today - you deserve to treat yourself to putting your feet up :D

mioliere and mummysaver - I'm joining you with the cuppa and hoping I can also taste the choc ganache tart :D

rmac - feel free to help yourself, they made two huge tarts!

Feel marginally better, have put some leftovers from yesterdays roast into the freezer, and will use up the spaghetti from the weekend with burgers for the kids dinner. At least I've done something. Now need to get this meal plan organised!

Going to listen to Poirot from fri morn on the pooter and have a browse of the papers before dd3 and neighbours lo arrive home, and browse on here for meal inspiration too!

Hi everyone - having just escaped from the house and got to work finally - I really could do with a coffee! My door key is very very stiff and doesn't work from the inside - OH absently decided to lock me in as he left this morning so it took me an hour to loosen the lock enough to get out. Ah well. Not that I'm busy  I am feeling slightly sorry for myself thanks to a combination of thesis stress, OH's nightmare ex (again  ) and a head cold - so I apologise if I'm a bit cranky. :)

Beth - glad you got home finally!
    Meanmarie - thinking of you
Kaat - the dancing kittens are great.
Mrs tittlemouse - hug for you - hope your migrane clears up soon; I haven't had one for a while, but I lose my sight occassionally during them and it's horrible :(

I had a baking spree last night - mainly because I couldn't sleep. So I made chocolate muffins, fig and pumpkin seed muffins (a bit weird but edible), orange drizzle cake and syrup pudding (which I admit I ate the rest of for breakfast :) ) I left the egg out of the choclate muffin mix accidently and it hasn't made the slightest difference, so I'kll not be adding it in future! OH can cook for himself tonight because I'll be at work. Not sure if that is a good thing - having witnessed kitchen armegeddon before.
have a good day all, cel x

  • I was forced to break off rather abruptly from my last post - my darling father was reading over my shoulder and it put me off somewhat!

Little bear and darling father are both having afternoon naps - it is an incredibly nasty cold we have all had. I wish I could join them. Actually, if I don't get up and do something I shall nod off right away with the keyboard as a pillow!

So, after a very lacksidaisical morning I am going to tackle the ironing.

I also intend to fortify myself with industrial quantities of hot chocolate, milky tea and possibly chocolate.

Hugs to all, it seems to be a very stony pathed day for a lot of us. I am sure it is the weather!

  • Thanks guys!

I would thank you all but the button is not working ATM. When I had a chat with the helper last week she tld me that the money I give her all goes towards debt she has and it made me feel quite guilty....but TBH that isnt my problem. I dont want to ramble on about it again but my help on a Monday is very important to me as it gets the week focused and sorted for me IYSWIM. I am also able to get jobs done that I would of normally done without the help of OH so he doesnt have to worry about it.

OH has just gone to collect DD and get some Hamster bedding. He has a free voucher for Starbucks, so I dare say they will split a Frappachino (sp)

My milkman has given me a leaflet to do top-up shops on my weekly milk delivery. I can do it online before my next delivery. He delivers 4 times a week and I get 2 pints on a Monday and Tuesday. The prices werent too bad.....800g Hovis White Medium which we have £1.22, 6 FR large Eggs 0.99p and 500g Country Life butter £2.05. It might save us money by not going to the supermarket even though its a little more expensive. He also does a ton of other stuff like cheddar, bacon etc etc. Might give it a bash for Friday.

    Anyway, take care all.

    Amie-Lovely to hear from you.

:hello: Hi everybody.I hope the poorly husbands are doing better today.

I've just had an old friend over for lunch, not seen her much recently,so that was nice-she's just gone and I feel tired.I was up early giving the place a good going over, and prepping the lunch before she arrived.
I did some dough in the bm for foccacia, then cooked in the remoska, and puff pastry tomato & pesto tartlets with salad from the garden.HM cake for afters so hopefully she enjoyed it.Its just nice to catch up-we were neighbours for about 15 years, when our children were young so we used to see each other a lot.
At least the house is now tidy, though I have hidden the ironing pile
I took out a shepherds pie for tea so that only needs reheating.
I have signed up for a card-making course which starts in afew weeks ready for Xmas,so hopefully I'll learn some new techniques and meet some nice people.
(((hugs ))) to those in need.

  • Good afternoon everyone. I have been reading here a lot and occasionally post. I have 4 boys and work part-time so I don't get too much time on-line. I love this board. I have transformed the way I shop and organise myself since reading all the information shared here.

Today I have ironed all the laundry and it is such a nice feeling to have empty baskets. I made shortcrust pastry from scratch to make little pizza tartlets for my younger sons' packed lunches tomorrow. It is the first time I have made my own pastry and it turned out well. Tonight I am baking some fairy cakes for their lunch boxes.

Anyway, I hope to be able to post here regularly. I am planning to join the grocery challenge for October.

    Hi there.

PenPin - don't feel guilty. She's the one who should be feeling guilty. If she needs the job due to debts she should ensure she is employable and she certainly isn't doing that. If she gets away with it now, she'll never bother sorting it out. I can well understand how having the right sort of help on a Monday is important to you. It must set the week up for you.

Well, I don't know about the rest of you but I'm really cold. The sun was out this morning but now we're back to grey skies and I don't like it!

Anyway, I've had a bit of a sit down this afternoon but I'd better get something done now!

    See you later.

    Afternnon all,
Hi LAINEYC, :hello: I remember you posting on here, welcome back.

I have almost recovered from being homeless, well locked out  , but it felt like I was homeless for 12 hrs. I almost hugged my BM when I got it out. It's just pinged, I've done some baking as I was having withdrawl symtems because of the makeover for DD2 I've hardly done any for the past week.
Have made a rattatoulle, baked an apple cake and made some savory scones. Juiced up 40 Y/S oranges and made Y/S strawb and melon smoothie.

I have sat at the laptop for over an hour, oh bliss. I am going to try and sit down for at least an hour a day from now on, besides I can keep DH company.

I have to take him to the Radiology dept at Hosp for US Doppler Carotid Arteries at 2.30. Hope all will be clear.

2 wks ago we booked a 3 wk cruise to China, Japan and S. Korea in January, Our insurance ran out last month so have tried to renew but no one will offer insurance because of the stroke DH had. and because he is awaiting results. I hope we don't loose our deposit. We deceided to treat ourselves for our 40th anniversary in November, still waiting for the medal:rolleyes:

Suppose we'll just have to wait and see.

Off to catch up on emails, really enjoying a rest.
