Hi All,
OH and I have started going out more often and always take a packed lunch, however now the colder weather is arriving we like to take hot drinks rather than squash/juice. I don't drink coffee so we tend to want tea, however tea in flasks seems to always taste funny, like old cabbage to me!! Can anyone provide a solution to this or suggest other drinks that won't be affected in this way. We tried Bovril which worked well but made us thirstier than ever. Thanks.

when using a flask for tea/coffee we only take the hotwater in the flask and carry the teabags/coffee/sugar and milk seperately as no-one likes their drink made exactly the same way (we are a fussy lot!)
That tends to solve the cabbage taste tea can aquire in a flask and helps stop the flask getting smelly as well.
alternatively, my sister makes hot diluting juice which is yummyr.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
I don't like tea or coffee, but when we go on winter walks I like to take a flask of hot squash instead.

Coffee always tastes better to me than tea in a flask. Otherwise hot chocolate or hot squash.
I've also taken soup if I'm out for a long day.0 -
We always take hot water in the flask and then take teabags etc. OH has milk, I don't so this solves the problem and the tea stained flaskworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0

If you are not over keen on tea and coffee what about soups?
As you have pointed out its getting colder and it could also help you reduce how much you take out with you, now you are getting a hearty meal and a drink in one.:j Was married 2nd october 2009 to the most wonderful man possible:j

Hot Vimto! This has solved all our picnic/walk dilemmas in one fell swoop. I like it, hubby likes it and the kids think it's a real treat. And if it goes cold it's STILL nice. Glad to be supporting a local business, too (I'm from oop North, can you tell by my accent?)Before you criticise a man, walk a mile in his shoes. Then, when you do criticise him, you're a mile away and you have his shoes.0
