OS Daily thread, Tuesday 23rd Sept

Hi, this is the OS Daily thread for 23rd September. It is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all - night shift again for me - not wonderfully productive as OH came down to "help" Bless - it's really nice of him, but I really just need silence and coffee to get work done! Then I got distracted reading about malaria. Ah well. Going home at first light! (well, first bus anyway :) )

Not much else going on here - cakes went down well at work. I have to pick up some bits from the supermarket on the way home. Dinner will probably be lentil curry as I can throw it all in the SC then go to sleep when I get in :) I have to do the laundry though as I think climbers have started to freeze to death on the summit of the laundry basket :) Might have a go at laundry gloop having resucued a few plastic bottles from the recycling bin. Found a lovely wooden box at work too that I can do something crafty with hopefully - well, once I've painted over the Hazchem labels :D

I ought to move though - we have movement activated lights here and because I'm sitting still I have to wave at the ceiling every 15 mins to make them come back on - a little unnerving when you're trying to read and it suddenly goes pitch black! Still I guess it's my departments attempt at energy saving :)

Have a good day all :) cel x

Morning celyn and all to follow,

I've been awake since silly o'clock. I never sleep well in a strange bed and even less so when I'm in a fuss trying to remember what bits and pieces I have to get for dd today. So far so good, she seems happy and we left all the girls on her floor heading out last night at 10.30pm. ;) Oh to be young again!

Needless to say Mr P is still snoring his head off. I've been for a wander outside...those of you who know me well will understand, drunk two cafetieres of coffee and now I think it's a respectable hour to go for a swim.

The only old styling for me today will be shopping. :D

    Have a good day everybody.

Morning Celyn & Pink and those who follow & cross :D

I am contemplating a visit to Lakeland today, (Windermere) I think I might get myself a Remoska. I was going to save my pennies, but as OH has just bought some more tools...bargain price he assures me  (I don't believe him either)
I need to call into work this morning, yesterday was manic and I didn't get done all what I needed to.
Not sure what's for tea yet, but as I am working 5-7 I do need to decide.

Hugs to all those in need.

Oooohhhhh.... I covet a Remoska as well. I have been banned from lakeland though :( We don't have one anywhere near here - which is probably a good thing.

I wouldn't believe him about the tools either. I used exactly that line to explain all the sci-fi dvds that arrived at the house on saturday. Absolute bargain :D  :rotfl:

Hugs to Pippa & Mum, MMarie & oh, PP, Pink, Beth, Jay, Smokey & anyone I've missed.
We were up just after 5, hubby at the station not long after, off to work soon.
I didn't get to talk to my boss yesterday as we were both too busy, I worked a 9 hour day with no breaks, so I'm tired before I start today, hey ho, the joys of getting old.
I need to make cakes tonight as we have a cake sale tomorrow, so if it's quieter at work today I'll try & leave early & take back some of the 16 hours they owe me.
YS lamb shanks for tea tonight with roasties & broccoli.
I hope everyone has a good day.
    Hugs Hester

Celyn, he forgets, I know full well what these tools cost and I see his bank statements lying around :D
Shame he doesnt leave his switch card lying around, he'd never notice another debit from his account ;)

  • Morning all! I hope everyone's well.

It's so dark! I think it's time to get the sunrise alarm clock back out. Chicken in the SC today for tea, really looking forward to it.

Whatatwit - I'm jealous of the potential Remoska :D

Got a meeting today, just looked in the mirror and there's serious work to be done!

    Hugs for everyone
  • Morning all

I'm a bit earlier today as DH has to be first into work to open up. Taking Charlie out in ten minutes, then a quick breakfast and off to look after DGD today. I have had a car seat fitted, so we can now go out on adventures :j Might have a stroll around Mr T's as I never normally go in there, but there is a baby and toddler section, so who knows what I might buy :D

Got some pork chops out for dinner and will do a leek and bacon bake with them.

Marie, hope the results were good

    Catch you all later x

    Morning everyone,

I've not slept last night so here I am, up early!

I wanted to tell you the news. A week ago we were burgled. It was very upsetting but DH kept saying, maybe it's a sign things will get better. And it was...

Two days later my visa arrived with my passport, which means I can now start looking for work again.

And yesterday my husband was informed he got a new job. One he was convinced he wouldn't get because it's just too good to be true! He'll be getting about 50% more money, and it's half an hour closer to home than the current one. Not to mention he'll be going from lowly data auditor to being in charge of his own staff, so it will look good on the CV too.

I have to admit we're both a bit scared, we've had such bad luck the last 3 years we just don't know what's going on now. We keep thinking it's all going to go to pot, or that something really bad is going to happen...

Anyway, that's my news. I wanted to share it with you because you've been there throughout the bad stuff so it's only fair I share the good stuff too.

I'm glad to hear everyone's doing alright, so keep it up!

    Morning :hello:

    Meanmarie and Pippa hug.gif

Mr troo wants to spend every waking moment out of the house when he's on hols, it's driving me mad  Beach, forest, town, hill, brewery - it doesn't matter as long as we're OUT :D I'm getting nothing done

I'd thought we'd be struggling to keep to the same budget for groceries, what with all the price rises, but we're managing to spend less. Don't ask me how, we just are :D

We're about to inherit some money - between £1500 and £2000 - from mr troo's grandad (he died in august). The money is needed at the mo but I'd rather give it back and have him back, making us fruit pies in his tichy kitchen

I've told mr troo that we're not going out the second we get up today  , the animals need sorting out, the tomatoes need picking and no-one has anything to wear because it all needs ironing. Need to start moving stuff in the garden to fit the greenhouse in, work out how many bricks are needed - we're moving the pond to make room for a mini chicken shed, remove a bit of patio to make room for more tayberries.....................troo needs to get off the computer and plan all this properly :rotfl:

Mellika, we cross posted - I'm just editing to say :j :T :D
