cold and miserable here (the weather not me;) )

lots of hugs needed this morning, forgive me for not mentioning names i'd have to make a list as im reading through as i dont possess a photographic memory, so ill just say hugs to all of those in want or need of one for themselves or with worries about their nearest and dearest.

congratulations and good wishes also to those with happy news or celebrations.

didnt achieve all of yesterdays list mainly because the hour i'd promised tidying and sorting an upstairs bedroom turned into 3! but the room does look good now, you can actually see the carpet and make it across the room to the bed.

must do some ironing this afternoon and clean the mouse out but thats all im planning for today, rushing around tonight boys have choir practise then martial arts club, youngest DS still has home work that MUST be in for tomorrow- im sure he gets too much since he started in his new class could i ask how much other peoples 8yr olds get please, Hes already spent 2 and 3/4 hours on it this week and still has a poster to design and about 3/4hours writing in a diary entry to finish. thats not counting revising for this mornings spelling test and reading his school book! my older ones dont get that much.
good thing about tuesdays is i can take my knitting to martial arts so once the register is done i get 3/4hours undisturbed knitting time;) .

hope everyone has something good in their day

Is anyone else having trouble logging on to yahoo.co.uk or is it just me? I was having trouble with it last night too. I got on this morning early but now nothing......If anyone could try it and let me know I'd be so appreciative.

  • Morning all.

Just finishing a pot of tea (English Breakfast) before I start tidying up.
Was off work yesterday, and again today, and I've been really lucky with the weather. Hope its as nice for my next bit of holiday, w/c 6th October.

We had a lovely meal last night - DH and I always celebrate the festivals with a nice home cooked meal using seasonal ingredients. Last night was:
roasted cherry tomatoes and patty pan squashes, served in a bread roll ring. (From Hovis Granary mix)
Leek and Potato soup with a bit of chicken for good measure.
Baked apples with raisins and brown sugar.

Delish, and will be serving DH the rest of the soup for his lunch today I think. I'm going to have an ommelette as I've been looking forward to one for ages.

Right, Tea finished. Off to fill up the bird feeders then better do some washing up and laundry. Have a good day all,

  • Hello and good morning everybody.I've been up ages but been so busy I've never sat down since getting out of bed till now.
It was very dark this morning and so cold. The temperature must have realy dropped last night as we had condensation on all the windows when we got up.
Not much on for me today although I do intend to have my weekly trip into town to see what I can find.Lethal and not very moneysaving I know.
Well have a good day everyone.Take care xxx
  • Hi Everyone - I've posted on here some months ago and then never carried on! But I've decided that it will be rather theraputic to air my rants to a bunch of friendly strangers than keep it all in!!

Hugs to everyone that needs them. Things can only get better for everyone!

Mrs MP - my DS2 is 10 and doesn't get much hw at all. He has to read his book everynight for about 10 mins - unless its a really good book and then he'll read to me for hours!! Apart from that he gets one maybe two pieces of homework a week which he can usually finish in about an hour.

My gd (79!) is in Papworth at the mo and is hopefully having a triple bypass tomorrow, they have warned us it could even be a quadruple bypass but they don't know for sure. He's had two mild heart attacks in the past 2 months, its because he has hardening of the arteries due to calcium deposits. Thing is he's a non-smoker, non-drinker vegetarian and very fit. Goes swimming 2-3 times a week, tenpin bowling and has rowing machine and weights at home which he does everyday! He's healthier than me and I'm half his age!

I'm full time working and studying as well - CompTIA A+ so don't get a lot of time for anything much really. have DS1 15 & DS2 10 and DH 40 going on 4!!

Gosh didn't mean for such a long post.

    Bye

  • My very first post on the thread, wooohoooo! :D

Good morning (still morning for a bit) all. Will be spending my afternoon peeling, slicing and cooking apples for the freezer. Not so happy about it atm, but I know for sure that I will be somewhere in the middle of January!

And maybe the occasional peek at the OS posts. Between batches mind you. lol

    Morning all
What a grey, damp and chilly morning it is here too.....blugh.

DD2 will have got soaked on her walk to school....DD1 has such a stinking cold and was up half the night coughing that I let her sleep in - she had a day off last week with it but it's seemingly back with a vengance so she can stay home till she's better...she's not behind with any work and always catches up within a couple of days.

Pipkin - How about taking photos of your DD's with the items they've made and keep the photos and some key bits of work in a file each "term" - that way you can just pack away each years work folders as evidence should you need it  Not sure if that's allowed but don't see why not.

Hugs to anyone else who needs them or :j to anyone celebrating today.

Tried the 4p a jar Sainsbugs curry sauce last night - I'm not a fan of curry but I must admit, with a big slug of apricot wine and some chopped fruit and chicken it was most acceptable.....will be great for a quick and easy dinner now and then (DH said it will make a great basis for a soup too - I shall try one for his food flask)

Got some bargin pizzas in Mr A's last night - brand name ones reduced to 50p each - I got 6 for the freezer - DD1's birthday coming up and none of her friends will eat my HM pizza (more fool them) so when they come over for a pizza/dvd evening they can tuck in to those....also have my sister visiting soon and her kids only eat stuff like that - so problem solved.

Tonights dinner will be streaky bacon wrapped sausages and onions, baked in the oven and then dumplings and gravy added.....was something my mum used to make and I've not had it for years.....will serve with some cabbage and mash.

Hope you all have a great day.

  • Morning everyone!

Looks like our five days of sunshine is ending today - it's a tad grey out there now though there are blue patches and lil bits of sun.

Mekila - Congrats to you both, that is great news!
Welcome back Hilstep, sounds like you had a great time, but OMG £40000 on your friends wedding?? They are very lucky to be able to afford that.
Pippa - hope your mum is feeling better hon.
Hester - it's because they are putting too much on you, you really need to talk to your boss honey, it isn't fair.
*hugs* to Haribo, Pink and Smoky
Ruthibe73 - I am sending positive thoughts to your grandad and a hug for
you hon, I hope it all goes well.
Kadeeae - Welcome to the thread honey, you will enjoy it here!

We had bacon and potato casserole last night - it wasn't as nice as the corned beef one, but with value bacon and onions from my FIL allotment, it cost pennies to make which is always good! We also made 'crisps' from the potato peelings which helped with my salty snack addiction!

Also roasted a load of tomatoes with onion, garlic, chilli and balsamic vinegar and blended it to make a kind of passata which we have frozen for next weeks spag bol. Oh and we baked ginger hobnobs as the OH likes to take half a doz to work with him every day and they seem to last ages!

So all in all we felt very OS and pleased with last nights work!

Hope everyone is having a good day - *hugs* to all who need them and congratulations to anyone who is celebrating today.
