chestnut mushrooms
did a search but nothing useful came up. Got 2 x 250g of chestnut mushrooms for 20p mark down (todays date best before) at mini tesco on way home tonight. Whilst I will use some of them in a risotto/quiche/stir fry how do I store the rest? No way I will be able to use them all up over the next few days. Do I dry them in…

What to do about Gas leaking? Alright Now
Water in pan boiled over and put gas ring out. I've turned off the oven, the central heating for water (on timer) and the ring, of course, opened a door. Not a huge smell of gas, but I don't have the greatest sense of smell. The gas ring would have been going for around 10 mins, max. What else do I need to do?

How long does cooked bacon last?
I've bought a value pack of bacon for tea tonight - my fiance is mainly vegetarian and doesn't like a lot of meat (not an ethical decision, she just doesn't like that much meat!) I'm going to grill a bit for her, but I could cook the rest of the pack as it'd be better for my pocket energy wise to grill all of it rather…

mushrooms
Ok so this is a question about Mushrooms. I love mushrooms but my Fiance hates them. When I started doing the whole MS thing he agreed that he would try his hardest to eat them, and since then I put them in most of my meat dishes and last night I made a Vegetable Paella (is that spelt right?) from my veggie cook book, but…

Well - cheapER butter.... Spoon measures
If I'm following a recipe and it calls for a tablespoon of something, I never know if it means heaped or flat (unless it specifies). I usually go half way and make it slightly rounded, unless of course it's a liquid. Is there some kind of rule for this?

Freezing food for my Dad
My Dad is getting on a bit and finding life hard going so we're upping sticks back to take on his house and are building him a "grandad flat" alongside so that we're all close together. We'll be in a fairly remote area and the nearest decent supermarket is 30 miles away so I'm improving my shopping/freezing habits but I…

Ribena out of cream carpet
Hurumphh! Ex lodger did this, then moved the bed over it to cover it! He says it's Ribena and that it happened when he moved out almost two weeks ago, but me and bf suspect it's Snakebite (on the way back up) when him and bf got slaughtered on it at Xmas. Any suggestions? 1001 is not budging it one little bit.
