OS Daily Sunday 29th June 08

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for today. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning.

Feel a bit tired this morning. Maybe I should have spent longer in bed.....
Had a great day yesterday when we decided to go to Penzance on the train. It was Mazey day down there and was fantastic. It's a recent festival started in the 90's, but has grown and now feels as though it's been tradition for centuries. All the schools make large wicker, bamboo and paper charachters and floats and sing, dance etc... A real good effort. There are stalls and food and of course lots of people and beer.

I managed to get sun burned. The train coming back was the usual GWR mess up. 2 carriages for 1000 people, No room, No train guard to sort out the drunks. Ill thought out at usual.
Met 2 Polish girls on the train. They had forgotten to get off 40 miles earlier when trying to go to Newquay. So were heading back up. Trouble is they missed their connecting train. I ended up giving them a lift across. That's a favour the Polish people owe me now if I ever go there.

Church this morning, then American friends for lunch. I think we are having honey mustard BBQ chicken breast and they are bringing a real key lime pie and American root beer.

Weather seems unsettled and a bit pants
Well folks have a nice day

Morning N9EAV and all who follow. It was very kind of you to give those Polish girls a lift back, N9EAV - others may have left them stranded. Glad you had a good Mazey day - it sounds great. I love the idea of a new local tradition being started.

WHATATWIT - I had trouble getting online with AOL last night, too - having read your last post yesterday, I think it may have been AOL themselves and not me! The PC had been on all day then suddenly crashed when I wasn't even using it; it took me ages to get it back. Is it me or does everyone panic when they can't get online? And is it only me who worries most about not getting back to MSE?

(((Hugs))) to SMOKY, PENPIN, BETH, MRS MIX, ANNIESTAR, GRANNYBROON, KYLE and her LOs, CANDYGIRL'S DAD, JACKIE0 - I know I've forgotten others so please take a (((hug))) anyway. There is such a lot of worry and sadness on here these days. I hope everyone has as happy a Sunday as possible. I know there's no better thread than this when you are feeling unwell or anxious.

    CHURCHMOUSE - :hello: :hello: :hello:

Anyway, as usual when DH is away, I had a great undisturbed night's sleep. I am going to have a shower in a minute, then have breakfast and then visit the bottle bank - I have two boxes full of jars and bottles (not all alcholic!), then I shall get the Sunday papers and be the first one to read them for a change! I MUST mow the lawns today - I can't leave them any longer or they'll be much harder to do. I'm planning a mini-roast for lunch and then a lovely snooze afterwards. I won't be having my usual visit from DS1, DIL and the LOs because they are visiting my Mum today. She is really looking forward to seeing them. She's great; always gets their favourite food in and buys new toys for the LOs - they love visiting her. She commissioned a painting of them all from a photo I gave her from the wedding last year so she'll give that to them today. I can't wait to see it.

Anyway, I had a thoroughly lazy day yesterday but I think that was because it's been so hectic lately and, now that DH has gone away, the pressure that his work puts on our lives has melted away for a while; I hope to achieve something more constructive today. I'm going to have to write a list of all the things I must get done by the time he comes home and discipline myself to get them done.

    Anyway, see you all later.

    Morning N9eav & Kathy,

Aww N9eav, that was nice of you :) Life in Cornwall does sound interesting - you always seem to be telling us about some day/event that's happening - sounds like lots to see & do.
Kathy, I agree - my laptop suddenly disconnected yesterday & then couldn't find any networks anywhere... cue sense of panic, lol!!!!! Makes you realise how much we rely on it.

(((((hugs))))) to all those needing them.

More tidying/sorting today to clear some space - still trying to find a paint colour for my room & my brother is starting it in the morning (at 7.30am... eugh).

    Catch you all later.
    xx

    Good Morning All

Happy Annivesary Kyle & OH

Weather was stunning yesterday and I ended up not going much at all so will be a bit better today. Ended up with loads of kids in the pool so that was fun, bought them an infatable boat which kept them amuzed for hours so that was £5 well spent. We have had our pool for 7 years and it cost us £200 so we are definatly getting our moneys worth with that.

OH is doing concreting again today so I will try and get on a little better, my Tai Chi club have an open day later which I may go to, will see how we are doing then.

Only have a little ironing to do so will be a good start to the week if I can get that done. Having a barbeque later - youve got to havnt you when the weather is like this.

Must remember to pick up a News of the World today, think they are doing a £5 off £30 spend at tesco.

Have a great day (((hugs))) to all.

    Good morning everyone,

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY MR AND MRS KYLE (thats come around quickly!!!)

Nothing much planned here today, have some yellow stickered lamb steaks for lunch (going to do them with a roast) and need to strim the lawn (still havnt got a new lawn mower!) but that is about it. I have some more carrots growing in my kitchen, so i might plant those out today as well.

Yesterday i made butterfly cakes and biscuits, so the snack tin is nicely stocked up again.

Sat here on my own at the minute, its lovely to have some peace, but will have to get my two up in a mo so peace will be cancelled!

:hello: Taplady, mrs mix and :hello: and :grouphug: to everyone

    Have a lovely day
    Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
