Yesterday, I made some dough using my bread machine. First time i have used that setting. When it bleeped, I shaped the dough into barm/tea cakes (or whatever your local name for them is) :D I left the things to rise...as instructed in my bread book....and then popped them into the oven.... Well, I have made them into…

Setting up a new kitchen - what storecupboard essentials would you buy?
I'm busy putting together a list of stuff from Tesco for my sister who has just moved into a new house. At the minute she is living on pasta and jars of sauce, mainly as she cannot afford all of the "twiddly bits" that allow you to cook rather than re-heat. I've got a few ideas, but I'd welcome advice as to what stuff…

Strong white bread flour
It's the only flour I have left at the moment ... can I use it, instead of plain flour, for making shortbread? Or will it be too heavy? Thanks

How long can I keep ... HM sweets and chocolates?
I have been testing out some recipes for a christmas fayre on Dec 6th. I have made some squares of coconut ice. some I have left plain and some are covered in chocolate. Will this batch last until the fayre if I wrap them in cellophane? Or will I have to make a fresh batch nearer the time?

WikiRecipe
I was just thinking that wiki software would be great for a recipe site, so there must be some out there using it. Managed to find this site; http://www.wiki-recipe.org/index.php?title=Main_Page Thought it might be of interest to old stylers to use and/or add to.

Woks & cookers
I have a conventional 4 ring cooker and i use my wok quite a lot. The wok won't stand properly on the cooker ring and is quite precarious. Isn't there a devise you can get to put on top of the cooker round the gas ring so a wok can stand in it? Does this make sense to anyone? I've looked everywhere but can't get hold of…

But, bonus, the twin pack of Kleenex tissues is half price…

how long will home made biscuits keep?
I'm hoping you can help me. Instead of buying Christmas cards I had the idea to give them each a personalized gingerbread man. I've done my list and i'll need to make about 100 biscuits:eek: I was thinking of making the biscuits over 2 or 3 days, then icing them all on 1 day, packaging them in food bags the day after, and…

Where to find some funky draught excluder snakes?
Does anyone know where I can get some draught excluders, you know the snakes that you lie along the bottom of a door to stop draughts seeping through?
