i have been doing my sunday batch cooking.....even though i am full of flu.. and still recovering from seeing motorhead nad alice cooper in concert on friday night...lol.....( the rebel in me )
and was trying to think of ways how i could get my basic store cupboard ingredients a bit cheaper......
first of all i thought about cash and carry places like makro... but in all honesty the supermarkets are cheaper.....especially on the likes of sugar....
then i thought.. cheeky i know.. but hay if you dont ask you dont get.....
is it worth asking the supermarkets could you have discount on bulk buys ? maybe the smaller ones could do it....
then another thought was ... maybe find out if there were other os mse'rs in my locality... who would be interested in finding out about bulk buying and splitting it.....
like buying a catering size sack of sugar 25kg and the same with flour....butter etc.......direct from bakers supplies
as to be honest i am now finding baking from scratch on some things.... getting a bit pricy now.....like apple crumble... by the time you buy the brambly cooking apples......sugar....butter....etc...

Hi Cool Tricker Chick
I dont think the supermarkets would do it but I am sure wholesalers would. I think there are shopping co-operatives in the US which do this?? I would love to join in with you. We'd need a few people though, i would think. Also I dont think I am anywhere near you! So do we need a shopper co-operative thread??....another happy bug.........sorry,blogger embracing the simple life0 -
I'm afraid that passing personal details and setting up this sort of thing is not allowed on the boards. (If I could see the rules I'd be able to link you to them but they're AWOL with the other missing posts at the moment.)
Martin's pretty clear on it though so I do have to lock the thread. Thanks.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0
