Ideas for OS 1st anniversary gift?
Hiya, Any ideas on a 1st wedding anniversary gift for my dh which is OS? We have booked a weekend away in a nice hotel so don't want too spend much on presents but want to give him something different and a bit unique. I know 1st wedding anniversary is 'paper' but don't think a copy of the Daily Star will do it. :D Thanks

What 'premade' food do you use (if any?)
Hi guys, I know it's not fully in the spirit of OS, but I was wondering if any of you do as I do, and use a mix of HM and premade foods. (I have a lovely HM macaroni cheese in the oven as we speak!!) I use premade foods (not every day) as rightly or wrongly I do find it quicker. Both me and OH work full time and often do…

Scotchguard Protection on Sofa?
Just ordered a new sofa and as we were paying they asked if we wanted Scotchguard Protection. I dithered   then said "Yes we had better have it". It costs £40 though and I'm now wondering whether it is really worth that. Any advice or opinions would be welcomed. I have till Tuesday to cancel the…

Breadmaker.... gluten-free....... yeast-free too!!
I miss bread. I really do. I used to buy the gluten-free rolls from Waitrose but I can't afford them any more. And all the talk I've seen about breadmakers has got me thinking, maybe there are gluten-free recipes I could use. But I also can't eat very much yeast - the odd bit doesn't give me any problems, but if I were to…

I'm spread a little thin these days - how do you do it?
There are other threads about organising our time and I'd be a quivering wreck without flylady but I'd appreciate some more specific advice if you don't mind! My baby has upped his game. He wants to be standing most of the time and that involves me holding him up. My toddler is really very good but he obviously wants to…

Old Style Saturday 25 August
Good morning everyone:beer: Can't believe I'm first up :T Had a great day at our friends' wedding yesterday - sunny weather, great company and good food. DD was an usher - greeting people and handing out orders of service. She looked stunning and did a great job. Finished the day in a bar drinking rum punch, and we weren't…

We're having an OS baby, any advice?
Hi everyone. My OH and I have just found out that we're expecting a baby next April :j Problem is, I am the main wage earner so we are seriously going to have to cut back. My OH has debts that he is slowly but surely paying off. Other than that we just have the normal monthly bills including a large (£500 a month)…

cheapest supermarket salmon?
i bought a bag of 5 salmon fillets for £2.99 from sainsburys - but they were quite small compared to the fresh ones from tesco. can anyone recommend a cheap source of salmon? - if it's fresh it needs to be freezable. the nearest street market is a bus ride and i think their salmon has already been frozen tia.

It's Damson time again
I bought 2kg of Damsons from my local market today (£1.74p per kilo or 78p per lb). 1 kg has already been turned in to jam - the rest will be stewed and frozen for making into damson crumble or damson sponge later in the year. The one positive side of the hot spring/wet summer we've had is that it's great for British grown…
