For wet books. But remember to use towels with non- water soluble colouring or the colour will run into your book.:beer:0 -
For cleaning off food stains on books a soft rubber either gently rubbed on the paper or grated and then massaged on with your finger is best.:beer:0

Photocopy recipes or scan them into the PC and print.
Either laminate 'em or get some of those clear plastic A4 pocket things.
Keep the cookbook on the shelf.0 -
I've got a plastic stand for my cookery books that protects the pages from spills & splashes and also stands the book at a good angle to allow it to be read, It keeps the pages open too.
I can't remember where I got it from but it's the same thing as this:

I like the fact that my cookbooks have stains. It means they're being used.
Sometimes the blob of food on the page by the recipie will brin back a memory of cooking it!0 -
I'm with Generali
I quite like the spots and stains my cookbooks get (within reason). It means they're getting used. And the favourites can be found easily.
Just remember not to close it until it's dry - stuck together pages are not good."You can't get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me." - C.S. Lewis0 -

I have been making my christmas cake from a recipe in a very old (30 years) Home and Freezer digest. I don't think that anyone else could read the recipe now cos there are stains from that many years:o I do love the thought of a cookbook being used. I am lucky in that I have got most of mine from charity shops but am a little sad at how many are donated obviously unused.True wealth lies in contentment - not cash. Dollydaydream 20060
