Breadmaker.... gluten-free....... yeast-free too!!

Options
I miss bread. I really do. I used to buy the gluten-free rolls from Waitrose but I can't afford them any more. And all the talk I've seen about breadmakers has got me thinking, maybe there are gluten-free recipes I could use. But I also can't eat very much yeast - the odd bit doesn't give me any problems, but if I were to buy a breadmaker, I'd want to use it regularly, and I can't cope with having yeast regularly.

Are there any gluten-free, yeast-free recipes for breadmakers? Or am I wasting my time?

And while I'm at it, the cheapest are Argos' Cookworks range, right now, I can't see any offers on the popular ones from Morphy Richards etc. Are the Cookworks ones worth any money at all?

  • Not answering your question but did you know you can get gluten free bread on prescrption (as well as the mixes)? Even if you pay for your prescriptions your GP could give you a large amount that would work out cheaperthan buying them from the supermarket. My Nanna gets them delivered by the chemist by the boxful!

Thats interesting, SC. I was originally diagnosed by an acupuncturist, and have found that when I try to go back, I get severe stomach problems after about 2 days, so I'm trying not to go back any more. I don't know if I could cope with going through the diagnostic process of the NHS at the mo, but its an idea, thanks!

    Thanks Mrs Mcawber
I'll have a look at that as soon as I've got some more (yeast free, gluten free!) food inside me. At least I can have coffee now, which my acupuncturist also forbade for a while (this is in the days when I was rich.... sigh).

Ooh! that came up under yeast free and gluten free! And the sesame flatbread that came up under yeast free looks *incredibly* easy! Depending on how it tastes, I may not need a breadmaker after all! Thanks again!

Ohhhh dear, Mrs Mcawber. It might be. I used to get an upset stomach - but I *don't* have the constitution of a donkey (lol! isn't it an ox usually? It must be my age....). I *have* had that feeling of sore behind the eyes, v fragile, sort of thing - when I'm too tired, or I'm one drink short of a hangover, or too long on the computer, all sorts of things. It might well be - sorry.
