Mead!!!
I got given a bottle of mead a couple of Christmases ago (along with a little bag of spices - you eat it up and drink it warm with the spices) but I don't think I'm going to like it...is it like wine? Anyway, rather than open it and waste it if I don't like it does anyone have any ideas on what I can use this for? This may…

Cleaning: Steam Cleaning vs Vinegar vs Stardrops vs ??
Well, now I am living on my own, it's time to get into the OS way of doing things, but I'm wondering the best ways of cleaning my flat. Should I use a steam cleaner (I like this idea), or continue with Vinegar/Bicarb? Go intermediate and progress to Stardrops? A mixture of all three? Another alternative? We rent, so I'm…

Slow Cooker Lid Broken.....eek
Through the kindness of someone from my local Freecycle group, I now have a slow cooker :T Unfortunately, as the lovely lady was putting it into a bag for me, she dropped the lid and it smashed  She had a spare saucepan lid (metal one) that seems to fit it just fine. Do you think this will be ok or is there some…

Weetabix - which brand?
Normally buy ASDA Smartprice which I like. However, doing an online shop at Tesco this week and so was going to try Tescos own brand (though not the values one which I've heard isn't nice). Has anyone tried both and is the Tesco one any nicer and worth the extra pennies?

Does anyone OS "gourmet" style?
It might seem like a contradiction in terms but TBH I don't think it is. What I mean is: we like to eat yummy food but try to do so OS style. So for instance we'd rather have no ham than have Netto Wafer Thin slimy stuff. Or we have some scrummy ham from the farmer's shop once a month or so. Or (better) we figure out how…

mustard seeds

Dress agencies/Nearly New shops
I hope this is the right board for this enquiry (Pink or Gingham, please feel free to move if not) ... I am moving house soon and am having a major decluttering exercise ... So I'll be freecycling a number of items, donating others to charity shops, but am at a loss as to what to do with a number of decent frocks I own and…

I got my delivery from the Book People this morning (christmas pressies and a couple of freebies for me) because I had some points to use up I decided to treat myself to some new cookery books. Wonderful tuna casserole!!
I have posted on here many times about my extremely fussy kids and their reluctance to eat my OS meals, but today I made a Tuna Casserole from a new Cookbook I got from Gooseberry Patch. I had to tweak it a bit because the book is American but it tasted wonderful and was devoured in no time at lunch by BOTH DD's (a…

Please save my tomatoes!!!
Hi all, hoping someone can come to my rescue! It's my first year of growing tomatoes - the tumbling tom I bought in a garden center seems to be doing well. However a neighbour kindly gave me a few of her tomatoe plants as she'd sowed too many. All has been going well except the past few days unpredictable weather meant I…
