I've received a free gift from a seed order I placed - some mustard seeds. This might sound thick but what is it and how do you eat it? Is it like cress?

You can grow mustard seeds and use them in the same way as you would cress. The mustard, tastes slightly 'hotter' than cress but it's lovely in sandwiches.
I also use the whole seeds in cooking.

I used to grow both cress and mustard as a kid, on soaked cotton wool ! I agree, both are lovely, and the best bit is giving it a 'hair cut' ( cutting the top off with the scissors) when it has grown! (sad or wot!):D
That reminds me, when I was a Brownie - many years ago now, we made little people from empty egg shells, filled with soaked cotton wool and a few cress or mustard seeds sprinkled on the top. We drew faces on the egg shells and when the cress grew it was the hair!! Happy days. I'm going to make some of these with my kids tomorrow!0
