How to make banana chips?
Hi all! I buy, on a daily basis, banana chips (like crisps but..banana and not fried) because they're nice and a bit healthier than monster munch :D At 80p for a small bag they're costing me a fortune! Does anyone know of a way to make them? I assume they keep for ages?

Cast iron pans and how to clean/season?
Hi everyone. I've just been given an old cast iron pan that i've scrubbed clean with a scouring pan. Now its a sort of grey/black colour so I think its ready to season. (I know you arent supposed to clean them but its been sat in a shed!) Am I able to do this on the hob rather than in the oven? Perhaps wipe it over with a…

A few days ago I posted my SOA in another thread and got told I was spending a lot on shopping- about £80 a month I've worked out, for 2 of us, which I always assumed was quite frugal, but maybe I've lost touch with reality. Anyway the recommendation was I come here and look at some of the tips- thing is, most of them I'm…

Foraging - Natures Food
Hi, Recently I've been interested in local wild foods. (All spurred on by a walk in the woods and they pay off your mortgage in 2 years programs, with the nettle lady). Anyway I decided to do some research, there's plently of info on the net, and I brought a collins pocket guide to take walking with me. I'm very luck that…

Less than successful cake baking
Hullo wise Money-saving-old-style-ers, I've baked a few cakes in my past. So has my boyfriend. However since he moved into his new flat and got a new oven all our attempts (of which there's only been a handful admittedly) to bake cakes have not been great. The first one was his mother's recipe and took about 40mins to cook…
