Could we have a Seed Exchange??

Options
Hello lovely people!!

I posted a query about my rocket/coriander going to seed. As a result of that some-one pm'd me to request some of the seed heads. She offered to send and SAE but hey, I dont mind the cost of a stamp and a padded envelope, usually have these in for Ebaying.

I'm happy to have grown from seed ,then send seeds that will grow in some one elses garden to be eaten, and so on and so on.

I dont know if we'd be allowed to do it, or how exactly it would work? Maybe the person offering the seeds could say I'll send them to the first 5 , or send a sae and i'll send you seeds.

Its seems such waste for these seeds not to be getting used, spread the joy for the price of a stamp. Its cheaper than buying organic, and so much more satisfying!!

What do people think??Is this do-able??
RIP Floyd - 19/04/09. I know i'll see you again my best friend forever.

I absolutely love the idea but I don't know if it would be allowed on here. It might embroil the forum owners in disputes over stuff not being delivered etc. I think exchanges/offering unwanted goods has been discouraged in the past :(
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.

I believe this, or something similar, was mooted last year and basically, it's not "allowed" as it would involve the giving out of personal details. Whilst in themain this would probably be OK, I think Martin may be in hot water if anything untoward happened as a result. Not a very technical answer but I'm sure the BG's will be along to point you in the right direction re the site's T&C's etc.

Martin has asked that we don't exchange things on the forum as it can (and has in the past) lead to problems. So it wouldn't be allowed. But it's a nice idea. Maybe there's a way of doing this locally? You could put a card in local shop windows etc and see if anyone's interested?

Great idea . I will have some yellow and orange Welsh poppy seeds ready in a few weeks. I know you can't eat them but they are really pretty and grow almost anywhere. Mine have self seeded in the gravel on the path.

How about setting up a Yahoo group for this then? If enough people are in favour, I'd be happy to do it.

I think a yahoo group would be a great idea. I've got plently of seeds that I could swap. I wouldn't mind setting one up either. Bit like a seed freecycle I guess!

You or me then, purplepixi, or together as co-owners? Yes Freecycle was the kind of thing I had in mind. We could PM anyone who's posted on this thread once we've got it set up; not sure if we'd be allowed to actively list it here?

As mentioned above, the forum rules do not allow the exchanging of goods on the site, however honerable the intentions.

Good luck with your venture though :)

    Okay - here's the list:

    http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/SeedExchangeUK/

I guess we'll make the rest up as we go along - common sense applies :) All those interested in seed exchanging are welcome!

Mods - if it breaks the rules providing a link to the group here, just let me know.
