Hi all!
I buy, on a daily basis, banana chips (like crisps but..banana and not fried) because they're nice and a bit healthier than monster munch
At 80p for a small bag they're costing me a fortune! Does anyone know of a way to make them? I assume they keep for ages?

I think they might be freeze dried, but not too sure, and are actually quite high in calories! Stick to the monter munch!!!With Love From The Mistress xx

You can buy a fruit dryer, I've been looking and the cheapest I've found is £60. I don't fancy leaving them out in the sun or in the oven on a low heat for a few hours (not very MSE) which were the other alternatives I was given when I asked the same question.

Would like to make some home made banana chips. Does anyone know how to make them, if its cheaper to buy readymade or if they are healthy or not?
Many thanks0 -

Saw this site which might be of help. Don't think all that oil can be v healthy. To be honest, if I was going to make them, I'd be tempted to experiment and paint the slices with honey then bake them in the oven, while I had something else in there anyway, Then if they don't turn out right, you've not wasted much.I think it may work best with slightly underripe bananas rather than fully ripe ones.A friend is someone who overlooks your broken fence and admires the flowers in your garden.0 -
Maybe try sprinkling with icing sugar and drying off in an oven.?0

Just to edit, I expect you can sprinkle on whatever spice you like to flavour, I bet cinnamen would be really nice. Don't think I'd like them spicy.Official DFW Nerd Club Member no:219In the Court Of The Crimson KingI don't believe in the concept of hell, but if I did I would think of it as filled with people who were cruel to animals.Gary Larson0 -
Hi Theresa,
There's an older thread with some suggestions so I've added your thread to it to keep all the ideas together.
