We've just removed a workstation from the corner of a north/northeast facing wall (in place 5 years) - and found some patches of black mould in the corner. I've scrubbed it clean and treated it with Milton sterilising fluid and loads of it has gone, but there are still some very stubborn patches. Before we repaint is there…

Bananas and ice cream
Hello everyone, I would like to cook bananas and pineapple on the BBQ but...do not want the trouble ( save time) of cleaning of the meat residue first! If I cook them on foil over grill, will I get the same caramely flavour, and does anyone have a quick easy recipe to make them a little more interesting? I would also like…

Need small pasta for babies?
We have a 10 month old baby and every other weekend I cook a few meals which are then split and frozen. A lot of the recipes requiring pasta specify very small pasta or a type of pasta called "orza" which is like rice. This small pasta is quite hard to track down so today I had a brainwave. I got some dry pasta and gave it…

I was doing the big shop in Sainsburys today and noticed that there are very few brands of liquid detergent on the shelves, there are masses of powders, have liquid gone out of fashion? Potting compost question
I live in a very small flat with no garden, but I'd like to have a go at growing my own herbs. I use them a lot and it would save me a bit of money as well as the herbs looking pretty! I was in Asda today and noticed that they sell bags of potting compost. The "ordinary" bag is £2.99 while they do a smaller "Smartprice"…

Unfortunately there is no 'magic wand' but I was hoping that some of you might help me with advice on the best 'gadget' to clean floors (lino in kitchen)? I bought a 'string' mop and a cheap bucket a few months ago - the wringer…

how to get rid of damp smell?
I've just managed to aquire a full Britax travel system on Freecycle. It's got a pram suitable from birth and a car seat that can also be used in the pram. It's great but it has damp in the covers. I've washed them all with powder/soda crystals and vinegar and it still smells funny. There's no way that I would risk putting…

Cooking with Quorn?
I bought some quorn pieces yesterday but wondering what spices to use to flavour them up a bit? I was thinking of Cajun? Would this be best? I was going to mix a little with some oil then fry the quorn in it. Of course if anyone else has any other suggestions, that would be great.
