Where have all the liquid detergents gone?

I was doing the big shop in Sainsburys today and noticed that there are very few brands of liquid detergent on the shelves, there are masses of powders, have liquid gone out of fashion? I prefer the liquid as it doesn't leave white marks which powders sometimes do. A while back you couldn't buy many brands of powder, has anyone else noticed?

There still seems to be plenty of Ariel and Persil about (I only notice those two as I buy whichever is cheapest at the time, for mum). You can't seem to get the refill packs of non-bio though, which is annoying.
Some supermarkets display the liquids in a different place to the powders, e.g. on the opposite side of the aisle, so perhaps you just need to hunt around a bit.
I always use Co-op own brand non-bio powder, as it comes on bogof about twice a year, which works out at £1.05 for a 10-wash box. I don't think I use enough to leave white marks!I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

I have a relative who fixes washing machines for a living and he says that liquids are terrible for building up layers of slime and scum inside the machine and causing damage. Maybe this is why they are out of fashion at the moment? I had noticed the same thing myself recently, that liquids were disappearing.
I remember my mum using a washing liquid about 20 years ago, it was advertised at the time as being 'the future of washing' or something like that, it was called Wisk I think, and came in a red bottle, it just popped into my head the other day for some reason !0 -

Something I have noticed (sorry to go a bit off topic) is the disappearance of oxygen bleach. It was all the rage a couple of years ago, and I seriously loved the smell. Now, no-one stocks it. Why? Oh why? I posted this ages ago, but no-one answered my plea
I just wonder if there was something about its chemical make up that they had to withdraw it????

If I'm washing dark or brightly-coloured stuff I use Ecover liquid - it doesn't seem as gloopy as the other ones! I use Persil Non-Bio powder for pale things and whites. I also put in a Calgon tablet with every wash as this is a very hard water area, so I don't need to use as much detergent - though I usually use less than the bottle/box tells you to!0

We use liquid Fairy non-bio liquid as OH's skin is so sensitive (ahhhhhhhhhh!). We've tried the Tesco own brand, but it didn't seem to "clean" as well and we used it for quite some time.Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0
