Barbecue Ideas

Hi, its been a long time since ive posted on here - so ive kind of re-incarnated myself - which was really fun!
hmm..might have to think of a new avator though - great I knew I wasnt going to get anything productive done this afternoon!
Anyway, back to the point - I have a barbecue to go to on Saturday and have offered to bring something along - I have a gluten allergy so cant eat anything in a roll or sausages/burgers (u'd be surprised that they put in those things!). So am trying to think of a very cheap and possibly veggie idea as my contribution. Anyone got any suggestions?
and particularly if anyone has any suggestions for something involving aubergines - cus I have a craving
( they remind me of a holiday I went on once to Greece, - sigh...)
or possibly an idea for dessert that we could put on the barbecue? barbecue gluten free cake - now that could be a challenge!

If you wanted to bring meat you could bring chicken wings - they are cheap and yummy> Just chop the tips off the chicken wings and then thread them on to skewers, so that they are easily turned. Barbecue over hot coals for about 20 mins. You can dip them into sauces once they are cooked.
Most vegetables go onto skewers to make a veggie kebab.
You can put aubergines on the barbe - Just cut into slices and brush with olive oil - they will take about five mins each side.
As for a pudding you could do any soft fruit (bananas, strawbs etc) in a silver foil parcel with a splash of booze (rum maybe) and a bit of sugar. Cook the parcels for about 5 - 10 mins.
Have a nice time!! (Hope it doesn't rain!):D0 -
Sweet potatoes are lovely done on the barbecue - wrap them in foil and stick them on, they go all soft and sweet inside......0

My mate brought lovely boiled baby potatoes on kebab skewers with onion, garlic cloves, peppers, aubergenes, and courgette, we threw them on the BBQ when it was really hot and blackened the edges of the kebabs and the veg was amazing.
Dessert I coat pineapple and bananna slices in honey and a teensy bit of chilli flakes and then BBQ them when the heat has gone out of the BBQ. YumMy Doctor told me that "1 out of 3 people who start smoking will eventually die." The other two apparently became immortal.

Is Nutella gluten free? If so, my son loves a banana spread with nutella wrapped in foil and thrown on the BBQ for a few minutes till it goes mushy.
I second the kebabs too!Here I go again on my own....0 -
