SORN my car overnight to get an extra month of tax?
Hi everyone - my car tax is due on the 31st, and as I understand it, if I buy a full year, the tax will run until the end of whatever month it's paid in. So this means if I pay on the 31st, I will get until the 31st July 2023. But, can I instead SORN my car overnight and pay on the morning of the 1st August, to get until…

proposed possible increase in London ulez.
https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/ultra-low-emission-zone/proposed-ulez-expansion-for-2023Looking at the map it shows the ulez could increase to the limits of the lez. Seeing how the M25 comes within the lez sometimes will TFL try to impose the charges there as well?

Bus Lane
Just curious but a local Jet garage, which is halfway along a bus lane , is by far the cheapest at present. Driving by the other day I saw that cars were queueing to get in.Not unusual I know but are they allowed to queue in the bus lane(free) or should they stop in the road and hold up traffic??

Hit a deer, claim on insurance or just pay?
I hit a deer last night. Damage looks pretty bad, but I think it’s really just the plastic bumper and grille that needs replacing. I guess there might be more damage beneath but it wasn’t a particularly hard bang so it’s unlikely. If I go through my insurance, I assume my premium will increase but having never claimed…

Adjusting steering for the camber of the road
On the couple of cars that I own/lease (a 13 year old Vauxhall Astra with 75,000 miles and a new Hyundai Tucson with 2,000 miles) I've noticed that when I'm driving along a straight road, I have to hold the steering wheel perhaps a couple of degrees to the right to keep the car straight. It's more pronounced on fast A…

Half painted road markings
Our council decided to approve 1,000+ new flats without parking facilities a couple of years ago, last year they decided all these new homes without parking may cause parking issues for those living further out so decided to put double yellows down and resident parking areas requiring a £130 permit from 8am-6:30pm. Both…

Can’t pay for parking?
Parked in an NCP car park in Manchester and upon leaving tried to pay at the machine which said registrations were captured by CCTV, but when I entered my registration it came up blank. I’ve tried the ‘Pay Later’ online service, but again it does not recognise the number plate. You have 24 hours to pay or you get a PCN.…

Time to put car to rest?
Our Ford Focus is 16 years old. I took it for a service last week and it needs more than £1800 of work done to it to keep it going and also to make sure it passes its next MOT. This is a lot of money for us. It cost us £700 last year to get other work done on it because it's so old. We have looked into HP, PCP, taking out…
