Driving licence refusal
Hi any help appreciated! Today I got a letter from dvla refusing my medical driving licence (diabetic) due to a psychiatric illness (I was a bit depressed over Christmas)I have a telephone appt with the dr (whom I don’t even know that filled in the form for the dvla) on Monday. Is there any way that I can drive whilst this is being sorted out because I can’t get to work! Also if I ask for a copy from my dr’s of the form that was written about me will they let me have it as I’ve no idea what has been said about me.

You can ask your GPs for a copy of what they have submitted to the DVLA and if they have made a mistake then you can ask to have this corrected, but you can't drive as you don't have a licence.
Is there anyone who could give you a lift to work? I was lucky that when I lost my driving licence for six months I had a friend who worked in the same town that I worked in and passed my workplace on their drive to work. They appreciated having their fuel costs halved, and my boss was understanding about me having to leave promptly most days. I stayed late and took the bus home (2hrs vs. a 30 minute car drive!) when work needed me to stay.
Alternatively, you could look at cycling (bikes with electric assistance don't need a driving licence, and are much cheaper to recharge than an electric car.The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0 -
It looks to me on the DVLA website that you are not able to drive until a doctor has determined you are medically fit. And then you need to apply to get your license reinstated.

Hope you get it sorted quickly as it does sound a bit odd that you have been assessed by someone you've never met/talked to.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards. Thanks. I had a bout of depression around Xmas time not as serious as the link describes, this is when the dr filled in my medical form. I was fine and back to work by Feb/March, would do you know if I have to wait 3 months to reapply is that from the date of this letter as I’m absolutely fine now. It has taken over a year for this renewal to come through.

The doctor should supposedly know best on how to proceed and should be able to advise you. If not maybe citizen's advice?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards. If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. https://www.gov.uk/reapply-driving-licence-medical-condition
DVLA will send you a letter when your licence is taken away, or if your application for a driving licence is refused. The letter will tell you if there’s a period of time you need to wait before getting a new licence.
You can then reapply 8 weeks before the end of this period.
