Any recommendations for breakdown cover for older cars over 15 years old?
I have two cars and myself and spouse to cover; nationwide recovery required. Both cars are over 15 years old which rules out AutoAid as buried in their terms it states they only cover cars up to 15 years old; I only realised this by a tip off in a review as it is not until you get the full-length t&c's that this is stated…

Car Owners Forums - Membership Discounts
I've been a member of the Toyota Owners Club forum for many years and they offer what I believe is a very worthwhile "paid for" membership option which offers amongst other things discounts from Halfords products ranging from 10 to 15%. I know Ford Owners Club offers a similar product. I am aware that some say Halfords are…

are car service plans and warranties worth it from Car Shop
So I bought a used car from Carshop, Audi A3 2016 1.6 diesel. Its been nearly 3 months and so far no problems. However, on the day of collection they told me it had no service history. But had a major service with them. I received a call from them trying to sell me a service plan and warranty. This is what he said "Our…

Rattling Exhaust - causes?
This evening, I noticed a rattling sound in my 2012 Ford Fiesta when idling. It originally sounded like it was coming from the front of the car, either under the hood or the wheel arch (driver side) but it soon went away. The 'tone' of the noise changed when I had my clutch in (tried it a few times). When I got home, I…

Lost/mislaid the only key for the car. Any options?
My husband has lost the only key he has for his old car. Last remembers having it when he moved it off the driveway last week when his new car was delivered. It's not been seen since, although he is adamant that he brought it into the house after locking the car up. It's a 54 plate Ford Focus and he was going to sell it.…

Waved out at junction... who is at fault.
Hi, looking some advice on responsibility. I was involved in a small prang coming out of a petrol garage. I was waiting to pull out, to turn right across two lanes of traffic to the opposite two lanes. A bus stopped which I couldnt see around so its driver waved me out. I "suggested" twice "You sure?". He waved me on…

Can a garage use my car personally?
My partner needed a new timing belt and water pump on her car, when she dropped it off at the garage she bought the car from (due to us already having a few issues with the garage) she took a picture of her mileage. They had the car a week despite telling us it would take a maximum of two days to get the work done. When…

Avoiding getting ripped off on FB Marketplace/ Buyer wants to do bank transfer of deposit
Evening all, So I'm looking at selling on my motorcycle and having put it up on FB Marketplace today, have a fair bit of interest from local areas. One buyer in particular is keen, although he says he doesn't get paid until Monday next week. As a result, he would be looking to pay a deposit today by bank transfer and sort…

Speeding Fine - car noted as goods vehicle?
Hi all. Received a notice today asking for driver details. I was clocked by a camera van on the way home from work doing 81 on 70mph dual carriageway. The notice says ‘alleged offence of exceeding the spied limit for goods vehicle manned equipment’ I don’t deny I was speeding, but my car is a regular SUV, not a goods…

Adding newly qualified driver - premium increased more than £400 in one month!
I have Multi Car Insurance with Admiral which is due to renew in mid Jan. 2021. My daughter (17 years old) just passed the test and I wanted to add her onto one of my car policies. I was quoted nearly £600 to cover her from today until mid January 2021. The very odd thing is that I bought the same insurance one month ago…

Car Insurance: Who is liable?
Two cars parked in a public street. Car 1 catches fire. Fire spreads to Car 2. Car 2's owner is told by Car 1's insurer that because it is no fault of their insured, Car 2's owner must claim from his own insurer. Is this correct or incorrect? I would be grateful for a simple explanation as to why, in either case - correct…

Best supercar driving experience
Probably not very moneysaving, and not entirely 'motoring', but… Has anyone done one of these that wasn't rubbish? Ie, you got a decent amount of laps and were allowed to give it full throttle? Would be looking for a track in the south east.
