Speeding Fine - car noted as goods vehicle?
Hi all.
Received a notice today asking for driver details.
I was clocked by a camera van on the way home from work doing 81 on 70mph dual carriageway.
The notice says ‘alleged offence of exceeding the spied limit for goods vehicle manned equipment’
I don’t deny I was speeding, but my car is a regular SUV, not a goods vehicle, so m bothered this may have an impact on the number of points/ fine?

Or is goods vehicle just a generic term?
TIA
Andy

If you want to argue loopholes then ask in the sub forum of Motor for fines... there are many high horses elsewhere on the forums.
Ultimately the wording is system generate and SP10 or SP30 carries the same penalties0 -

The speed limit for a goods vehicle on a dual carriageway is 60mph, so you'd be 21 over rather than 11. Too high for a speed awareness course, but it would still qualify for a fixed penalty offer. If it goes to court for any reason it is (just) in a higher band, so higher fine and probably four points instead of three.1

Well if you fancy taking your chances, reject the offer of the FPN and take the matter before the magistrates then.0

What is the make and model of the vehicle?
Whatever issues you may have with the speeding offence you must respond to the request for driver's details. Failure to do so in the time allowed means you will commit a more serious offence which carries six points, a hefty fine and an endorsement code (MS90) which will have a serious impact on your insurance premiums.SP10 or SP30 carries the same penalties
Possibly. But not if the matter goes to court and the vehicle is subject to a lower limit. 81mph where the limit is 70mph would see a Band A fine and three points. If the limit was 60mph it would see a Band B fine and 4-6 points or a short ban. In both cases the offence qualifies for a fixed penalty (£100 and three points) but a course would only be offered (if the driver is eligible) if the limit was 70mph.1 -

For the record, I’m not looking for a loophole, or a challenge in court.
I accept I was speeding and will pay a fine & points, I was simply concerned about the wording of Goods Vehicle. Thanks again1 -
No, it’s a Kia sportage
Then it's not subject to a lower limit. You should be offered a course for the offence provided you have not done one of the same type (there are three) for an offence which occurred in the three years prior to this one.1 -
