Sorry, it is unclear from the title what the situation is and what your question is?
  • Sell car on last day of the month new owner pays for VED on the first day of the month.  Simple.

But I think too late for the old owner to get a November refund even doing it online  now.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

    Thanks  for replys.

    Asking for a friend.

Apparently old owners insurance ends on the 2nd and new owners insurance starts on the 2nd.

New owner is a named driver on the old insurance.

Can new tax on the 1st ensure refund for Oct.

    Thanks

Too late to refund Oct now, I think the website gives up at 6pm, but try it, the transfer has to be before 1st of November to get a refund for November..

The vendor is refunded complete months as of the date of keeper change (and you'd be daft to do that any other way than online this year).

The buyer can tax it whenever they wish. If they tax it in the last two days of the month, they get the opportunity to have just over 12 calendar months, instead of just over 11.

Apart from the fact that we've all had over six years now to get used to this, even when tax discs were a thing, most used car purchases were of untaxed cars...

Why on earth would you post it?

DVLA are still knee-deep in the backlog from the March lockdown...

How much is a twelfth of a year's tax for this car, anyway?

It really isn't worth worrying about. Its the cost of a few litres of fuel.

Would online give an advantage other than speed?
