Switching from car to motorbike
Hi, Planning to get a motorbike to commute to work (after years of driving cars....and sitting on traffic). With the wet weather dominating in UK, I'm quite sceptical if will work (so is it worthy getting a licence, buying the bike, all the gear etc....). Anyone sharing the experience. Thanks.

New Cherished Number and Retention
I'm currently looking to buy a cherished plate, both a private agent and DVLA quote the same for the plate. The Agent can provide the reg on a retention certificate for 12 months but has advised renewal or the certificate will be £80 each year. In the past I've only paid around £25 to renew retention on other regs. When I…

I recently had my car put through a full service and MOT, on return of the vehicle it was mentioned that their was a slight leak in the rear passenger shock absorber! Used Car Dealerships near me that wont rip me off?
Hi, I was going to go and look at some cars tommorow with the possible intention of buying one the same day from a car dealer if i see one i like enough. However my orignal plan was to go to Willson's in Epsom, Surrey - but I have read a TON of bad reviews about them online and I'm not so sure I want to use them now...…

Bought a lemon!
I spent £8k on a Golf from Benfield just over a year and a half ago. Since buying the car, it has never been out of the garage. It has been in for radio, aerial, air conditioning, timing belt (which garage should have changed), turbo, turbo (again) and this is just to name a few off the top of my head. Obviously most of…

Squeaky clutch
Evening all. I've got a 13 plate Kia Picanto, done just over 6500 miles and my clutch is getting a bit "squeaky" at the top. It's still pulling away fine, changing gear is no problem and it's fine on hill starts and holding at lights etc. I am heavy on the clutch, 90% of my driving is around town and it's mostly stop/start…

When can I be sure claim is over?
Hi all. I am hoping for some advice following an accident I was involved in. Another driver hit me but immediately claimed it was my fault at the scene. I didn't get the feeling at the time he would ever accept anything but it being my fault. I put the call into my insurer who sometime later sent me a letter to confirm…

DVLA - No Valid Tax on Vehicle Kept on the Road
Hi All, 3 months ago i put my old car back on the road after some time being kept on a private driveway. Now my understanding is that DVLA allow 5 working days for you to display a valid disc once you have…

Small claims notice from private parking company (UKPC) - please help!
Hi, I would be grateful for some advice. Just got a letter from SMALL CLAIMS SOLICITORS, 24 Martin Lane London EC4R - about UKPC claiming for my non payment of parking tickets. Road fund ripoff
I notice that as from the 1st October 2014 the requirement to display a tax disc will cease. Furthermore when you sell a car you cant pass on any remaining tax. When you sell your car you get a refund for any whole months left since you taxed the car. The new owner will have to apply for a new licence. It appears that for…

Car Leasing - advice please
Hi, Im looking into leasing a car. Ive read a bit and know some of the pro's and con's. I just wonder about the handing back of the car at the end. How stringent are they on 'wear and tear'? If the vehicle has significant damage id say its fair enough for them to charge a penalty... But where do they draw the line? For…

Sabre/Drive Smart Insurance problem
I took out a policy with the above company as my daughter is 21 and still learning to drive. They offered a good deal as she has the car fitted with a telematics box. What they fail to tell you is that when you drive on rural roads you obviously drive slower because of the very nature of the road so Sabre penalise you for…

Breakdown cover???
I have basic cover with Green Flag. My car broke down yesterday and my partner stupidly had it towed home instead of to a garage. Its not driveable so have no way of getting it to a garage now. Local VW garage does not do recoveries. Rang Green Flag and they can't upgrade my cover now that the car isn't in working order.…
