Looking at the grand picasso 7 seater, but undecided in what to go for. looking at between 9And 10k for couple years old one,
or 5k for older with bout 80 - 90 k on the clock.

Not sure what to do ! any advice anyone, leaning toward the dearer option and keeping for long as possible.

    The auto is rubbish.

My sister had a manual petrol Grand, 2008, with low mileage and apart from fuel she thought it was ok.

Not in the same league of durability as a Ford Galaxy.

I would spend a little extra and go for a nearly new Galaxy.

If miles don't bother you buy an Addison Lee cast off from their car sale site.

3yrs old with full history and autobox for between £8k and £10k depending on mileage.

Buy purely on condition as they are all serviced every 10k and checked over every 5k and are only ever serviced with Ford parts and until recently only ever fitted with Hankook tyres, the contract has now gone to Michelin.

They are solid transport with many going back out to work as owner driver Private Hire vehicles.

If you see a black Galaxy with privacy glass and wheeltrims with Dagenham Motors on the bottom of the number plate there is a high chance it is ex Addison Lee.

Galaxys are basically the same as the Alhambra and Sharan. Unless you buy one with the 2.8 petrol engine or the 1.9 Zetec TDCi engine, then you will have a VW engine under the bonnet. Hence their durability.
    Never Knowingly Understood.

Just bought one of these very vehicles and took possession one week ago and have been on a short holiday with it.
I bought three year old VTR+ unless you want all the gizmos of the exclusive, including rear suspension airbags. Ex Motability stock, I chose one with full service history and which had been on a cherished plate.
Don't dismiss the Auto - it is a clutchless manual and after 500 miles i am delighted with it. You can choose to drive it using the paddles to manually select gears.
Prices had firmed up after I put my money down because Citroen were running an offer on Select used cars with Cit warranty and other offers. Have a look around at what is for sale in your area and review prices and mileages. Mid to upper 20k miles is what you will find most have and the 1.6 Hdi should have had 2 services.
Good luck with your search. I am delighted with C4 Grand Picasso I got.

Only the old Galaxy was the same as the Sharan/Alhambra.

The current version from 56/07 is a totally different vehicle.

And certainly no longer has the 1.9tdi lump in it.

It does come with the 1.8 tdci and 2.0tdci though. And a super rare 2.2tdci lump. They do petrols but know nothing about them as would never have a petrol Galaxy.

I am glad you are happy with the auto.

But the system is fragile and complicated.

Hopefully you avoid the problems that they usually have.

Haven't noted any difference in used prices.

They are still one of the cheaper 7 seat MPVs on the used market.

But they are rarely used hard for a reason, they are less robust than a Galaxy.

A shame as the interiors are nice and being French i would suspect comfortable.

I would expect the 2.0hdi engine is similar if not identical to the engine in the Galaxy, the 1.6HDi engine is mostly.built in Dagenham at the Ford engine plant.

But from a reliability and build quality point of view they are not my first choice for a 7seater.

Use the prices to negotiate a more local car perhaps?

    Or travel down by train.

As the lot is only a mile from Euston station.

Most are taxed and moted and were worked till a few days before going on sale.
