rant, please excuse
Ok, this is not a disscussion forum/area. But many do take a punt, so so shall I. Why oh why can't drivers modify their driving/attitude/aggressiveness to suit road conditions????????????????? We all know rush hour conditions when everyone needs to and is expected to tuck into the 1st available minigap. So why?, on a sunny…

Car Scrappage
I've had a little N-reg Peugeot 106 for the last 4 years and I think it has finally come to the end of its days. I think the clutch has gone and since I now live in South London and travel to work and most places by public transport, I don't feel it is worth paying for the work that needs to be done. The tax runs out at…

Murphys Law
Well I had to do it, didn't I? I was waxing lyrical about the ownership of high mileage cars and how mine didn't have any problems. Coming back home from watching the WRC Rally in Wales, it started running like a dog, chucking loads of black smoke out and running rough. Just had it into the dealers as I couldn't see…

No Claims Discount Protection
Apologies in advance if this is a subject previously raised... My car was bumped by an unknown party (it was parked in a side street and I found the wing dented when I returned) and the other party very kindly chose not to leave their details. I have no alternative but to claim on my insurance for the repair but I do have…

Wing mirror damage
Was driving along a road with parked cars on my side. I moved out a bit to pass them - enough space for cars on the other side to come through too if they were careful. But then suddenly I heard a bang! I looked at my wing mirror - the glass was gone, pulled over and got out of the car - noticed another car had stopped…

Buying back accident write off
Hi, I just wanted to check out the procedure for buying back a car if the insurer deems it to be too uneconomical to repair. Also what happens in terms of insuring a car that has been written off? My renewal is due in December too. Somebody went into the back of me earlier today and having spoken to my usual mechanic, who…

need new car: what to look for/offers?
In January we will need to buy a car, either new or one that has a decent no of years of its warranty left. We don't really know where to start looking. We know nothing about engines etc so it does need warranty. We would prefer a down payment and then a reasonable amount monthly as can't afford even a basic new car…
