I've had a little N-reg Peugeot 106 for the last 4 years and I think it has finally come to the end of its days. I think the clutch has gone and since I now live in South London and travel to work and most places by public transport, I don't feel it is worth paying for the work that needs to be done. The tax runs out at the end of the month and MOT is due end of December.
I don't think I can sell it, but I wondered if anyone had any ideas about how I could maybe get a little money for it, rather than me paying for it to be taken away? I'm getting married next year and am trying to save all the money I can!
Many thanks!
Hannah

Ring a local car collector from the local paper/yellow pages.
9/10 times they'll collect the car for free and also give you cash as scrap metal prices are quite good at the mo.
EDIT: Here you go http://www.scrapcarsalavgeinlondon.co.uk/
Hope that helpsIf Adam and Eve were created first

Even with it not working properly? It also has a weird problem with the mile counter - it stopped at 63,000 miles and I know for a fact it has done over 100,000! Thought this might seem a bit dodgy to someone buying it, even if I explained?Wins so far (since July 2009): Tickets for 'The Three Bs' @ O2 and CD VIP tickets to Riot@Matter0

For pure simplicty i'd do as you initially asked and scrap it.
A N reg Pug 106 with a blown clutch isn't going to sell for much at best. You may get £100-125 for scrap by a company like i posted above.
I mean by all means check Ebay as it's a sensible thing to do but just don't hold out on much hope. I mean would you buy your car off ebay with a blown clutch? If no then most will also share that view lol.
Sorry i sound like i'm putting a downer on things. I'm just looking at it in a cost effective mannerIf Adam and Eve were created first

I had a quick look on ebay, but I think your suggestion is best Rossy and to be honest I'm surprised you think I might get as much as £100-125! I'd be happy with anything really! I look into this. A lot of these places - probably all - process catalytic converters, batteries and tyres separately, but only give you a price per ton of car. Therefore if you take the battery out, cut off the cat and take the wheels off (have the wheel nuts lossened and when they lift the car simply take them off) you should get £10-20 for the battery, £30-40 for the cat and something for the tyres. If they wont pay for the tyres separately and they are decent, stick them onto gumtree.
Also, if it has a decent audio system - even a standard CD player counts - take it out and put it onto ebay.
Also, the service books / manuals may make something on ebay too.
Also check out what tail lights and headlights make for your model on ebay and see if thats worthwhile.
And the wheel trims if they're good nick.
In fact, check ebay and see what spares for a 106 sell and for how much - it might just be a matter of unbolting something!
Again, depends if you have a bit of free time, but i thought i'd point it out as this is MSE after all!0 -
