Why so cheap?
Cos it's TERRIBLE

Useless boot too.

Who'd want to pay £425/year in tax to own the thing? It's already cost somebody £1/mile in depreciation alone so far.

I agree that it is a useless vehicle, but although I think it is rubbish, there are still a lot of people who will want to own one. The same thing with OTT vehicles like Mitsubishi Warriors/Animals, the Chavs around here buy them as personal transport, when they have to be the most unsuitable thing around.
It takes all sorts.0 -
Pfft that's nothing! I think first place should go to the BMW X6......“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Think about it like this, it is a nearly new convertable for less than £5000, it may well be ugly as sin, but it is cheap.
You forgot the main reason for the cheapness though, unless they have changed it they came with a 3 speed autobox.
Any other 57 plate softtop would be around £15k, so not such a strange choice.
I actually like the look of the PT Cruiser, the 5 door anyway, it is at least original and not a boring eurobox, but the only one worth having is the diesel.0 -

I have to agree, that is one ugly ugly car.
It's entirely impractical too.....
It's a car for pretentious, upper middle class tw4ts to take the kids to school in, and is designed to fit UK standard disabled spaces exactly

I would have to disagree with you on that - ugly as sin - but cant be as bad as a Freelander ! Most expensive mistake of my life !!! Never heard anyone with a good word to say about them0

The PT is a good shout. For cars made in last 10 years, I'd nominate the Hyundai Accent, awful car that handles and performs like a boat on dry land, and the Freelander. As a car its not too bad, just so badly made its laughable.0

My brother-in-law loved his. He's sold now though, and bought an Alfa.0 -
