Car Gear Stick Question.
Hope someone can give me a solution to this.....Since last year during WINTER, the gear stick becomes hard (difficult to change from one gear to another!!) and makes a quacking noise.
Come summer and it is very smooth to change gears, just like a new car!!! Please help.

Sounds like the gearbox oil is old - what car/age is it?
Might be worth speaking to your mechanic to see if the gearbox oil can be changed - as long as it's not a sealed unit it should be fairly simple and not cost too much.0

The oil sounds favourite if its only there when its cold. However it could be GOOSE'd!0

What car is it ? and mileage could mean gearbox oil change or
it may be as simple as remove the gaiter from around the gearstick and clean and re grease the bottom of the stick0

Could be the cable feeding the gearbox!0

with the problem only happening when the weather is cold i cannot see it being anything other than gearbox oil being too thick, poss been renewed with incorrect type previously.
I would get the gearbox oil renewed with some decent quality oil of correct viscocity and see what happens then.0
