Car insurance quotes and criminal convictions
I am just getting some insurance quotes for my son. Does anyone know whether a Section 5 public disorder (£60 fine) would have to be declared as a criminal conviction? Most people I have spoken to say no as its very minor but I dont want to give mis-information.

Octavia Starting problems!
On March 1st I picked up an 06 Skoda Octavia 1.9 td1 (Skoda approved) from a Skoda dealer. Lovely car but we seem to be having starting problems when re-starting the car from hot. The engine will turn over but not fire, the most worrying thing though is the sound it makes ( the phrase a bag of spanners springs to mind) a…

TGV experiment .... 359 mph !!!
The record-breaking run just completed in France (Paris-Strasbourg line I believe) is quite some food for thought I think! That kind of speed is directly comparable to travelling by the latest aviation methods, or even perhaps comparable to travelling in a UK rail maintenance contractor's white van in the fast lane on a…

Damned speed cameras - advice required please!
I'm hoping this doesn't sound like a daft question... Can anyone tell me if speed cameras take photos of the side of the road it's situated on (ie. of the back of the car), or whether they also track cars on the other side of the road as well (ie. taking photos of the front of the car)? I was doing 44mph (over Chiswick…

Motor Insurance Cover - Europe
I'm planning a trip across Europe in a couple of weeks, all was fine until I contacted my insurer and found that they only offer limited EU cover and that it will not cover every country where i'll be staying & passing through  . First Call GB - Recovery options
I broke down on Saturday while in the South Shields area (visitng rels) on my way from Somerset to Scotland. Following the article on MSE last year we had a breakdown policy with First Call. Engine coolant change - Bristol/Bath
I really should have got this done last year before winter, or what passes for it these days, but inertia set in. I was hoping to see somewhere advertising this as a "footfall offer", but didn't. Does anyone know of anywhere that can do this relatively cheaply in/around the Bristol/Bath area? Yes, I know that I can do it…

VW Camper Van ('Buy and sell' or Hire??)
Planning a little trip for some friends and me, thought we'd go a bit hippie and drive a VW Camper van round for a couple weeks this summer and am looking into the possibilities at the moment. I see 2 options i) Buy a VW camper (around 3K-4K, anybody?) and then sell it a few weeks later for the same price (OVNO) - need to…
