do you want a map or a list of directions?
I always use the rac routefinder which lists the directions and a simple map, I find it easy to understand and very straight forward! easy for non driving passengers who are useless at directions! (those are the ones I have anyway :rotfl:) also simple enough to follow when driving alone!finally debt free and want to keep it that way!!0 -
map and directions please
the passenger will be able to read out the info while we drive
are all route finders trustworthy?0 -
I have used both the rac and aa but find the rac one so much better! have found them fine (apart from one occasion where a new roundabout that was built, but even then it was pretty obvious!)
I normally use the road signs and have my passenger read the route, that way I can be doubley (sp?) sure Im going the right way and it makes sure they stay awake!!!!finally debt free and want to keep it that way!!0 -
To paraphrase Voltaire, I disagree with everything finallydebtfree!! says but will defend to the death his right to say it. :-) IMHO, I rate the AA website route finder better. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0

I find https://www.viamichelin.com to be the best.I really must stop loafing and get back to work...0

To be honest I don't find any of the ones available to be very good. They seem to rely on you having a rough idea of the route to enable you to put in enough "vias" to get a decent route ! They will give you a route - but don't rely on that being the shortest or the quickest.
A £1.99 road atlas from Wilko is still the best.0 -
viamichelin gets my vote too.0

Problem with the printabe routes is that once you have made a mistake and gone wrong, unless you track back, then rest of the directions are useless. A road atlas is the safest bet (unless you can afford a Tomtom)If you found my comment helpful, please click the 'Thanks' button below :T0

Printed route itineraries aren't my cup of tea, there's just too much info - I preferred [in pre sat-nav days] to use a simple list of road/jcn numbers that I need to be using along with the various places that will be signposted en route.
However, if I was to use a comprehensive printed route plan, I'd go for http://www.mappy.com above others I've seen0 -
I prefer the AA one - but had only used rac and aa before this thread!!
Have bookmarked the others mention for when i need a route next time.Debt free May 2016 (without the support of MSE forum users that would never have been possible - thank you all)0
