Motor Insurance Cover - Europe
Options
I'm planning a trip across Europe in a couple of weeks, all was fine until I contacted my insurer and found that they only offer limited EU cover and that it will not cover every country where i'll be staying & passing through
.
It seems daft for them to lose a customer, and a lot of effort for me to go to to cancel my existing policy and change insurers just for a 7 day trip.
Does anybody know of any insurer who will offer temporary cover across Europe including Slovenia and Croatia?.

Most insures will cover you to drive through Slovenia without any problems, but probably not Croatia, the reason being that the latter is not part of the EU. Yet.
Two companies I know of will do short term insurance, usually for about £10 a day, but the problem of Croatia remains.

Thanks for the information. Upon reading the small print on the Norwich Union short term insurance, you can have the option of taking European Cover, and I see that it does list Croatia as one of the countries covered :T .
Just one question regarding temporary insurance, I thought that this was aimed for those who wanted to temporarily add another driver to their car, or who wanted to drive another persons car.
Is it possible to take additional insurance out on a car which you are already a policyholder for? - i.e have two different insurance policies in your name running concurrently on the same vehicle?0 -
Chris,
I often add european cover onto my car for when I take it abroad. I use the same company and pay a bit extra for it. Most insurances don't cover europe, only the Uk, so you are not having 2 covers on the same car - one is for in this country, one is for the rest.
To the OP - I think that the AA's european cover covers Croatia (I may be wrong about this)Sealed Pot Challenge Member Number #19060
