Anyone recommend good bicycle insurance?
I'm just looking through MSE for bicycle insurance for my son, and I thought I'd ask if anyone has any recommendations for any? Haven't bought any since I was cycling (about 12 years ago now) so I've lost track of the good/bad etc. Anyone got any good or bad experience to share? :)

Octagon Insurance website disappeared
My car insurance is with Octagon. The website is showing a 123-Reg holding page. http://www.octagoninsurance.com I'm guessing it's something to do with this: http://www.insuranceage.co.uk/insurance-age/news/2479990/octagon-switches-from-insurer-to-mga-post-brexit Gibraltar-based insurer Octagon has changed its status from…

Holiday Cancellation Advice please
I wonder if someone can advise me please. My holiday insurance is from 19 Feb 2016 to 18 Feb 2017. During this time we booked 2 holiday - one in April 2017 and one in September 2017 (i.e. actual holidays are being taken outside of the above policy times). The fact that I booked the holidays while having travel insurance -…

Pet Insurance - Too good to be true or genuine?
Had this link come through today, havent clicked anything yet, just wondered if anyone else has any experience with them? My current Pet Insurance was going through the roof, there was no No Claims Discount and the Vets seem to charge what they like at ridiculous, unchecked prices. Often its a LOT cheaper to get a…

Hi I am new to this but would like some advice. During a meeting with a morgage advisor, I was advised that i had critical illness cover attached to my endowment policy. Travel insurance - camera and laptop only
I normally have my equipment covered on my household insurance, but unfortunately had to make a claim for a mishap while abroad last year. I am only allowed one ex-UK claim per 'insurance year' and so I need to cover my camera and laptop for an upcoming trip. The best I have found so far is Eversure which is £128 for £5500…

HASTINGS INS money grabbing !!
Just received a call from relative who is insured with Hastings - having received her phone bill realises that for merely reporting an accident on the telephone number provided in the policy it cost her £8.62 - are they really so hard up of funds that they have to scratch around picking up every penny ?

Travel insurance to include Canada
Our current travel policy is with World-First, excluding USA / Canada. Thinking of booking a trip to Canada for September at today's flight prices. When renewal comes up (August) with there by a huge increase in premiums adding Canada to the policy?

Aviva Renewal frustrating
I have my car insurance with Aviva and the renewal is very competitive so I decided to stay with them. As I had a non fault accident in my wifes car last year I rang them to update my details as the "My Aviva" login doesn't allow you to update online. I told them about the accident and also asked whether or not my wife…

3rd party denying liability - advice needed
Hi, I'm enquiring on behalf of my dad. Last May (yes it's taking so long!) my dad parked up to do some shopping, came back to find a car has knocked off his wing mirror. The car stopped, the guy came out, admitted fault, gave my dad his details. They both drove to a nearby garage to see if the wing mirror could be fixed,…

How Much Should My Life Insurance Be?
Sorry, I know there are many variables, but I just wanted to get an idea of whether I'm being ripped off and/or if I need it My life insurance is currently being paid at £70 a month, which seems very excessive to me. My situation is; Single man, 35, company director, no kids. I have a mortgage of around £145,000 on a 3…

No claims discount on home insurance
Is there such a thing as a no claims discount on home insurance? I've heard of people negotiating good prices based on their claim history but is there a thing as a no claims discount as such? Does anyone know if there are insurers who actively take this into account, as opposed to merely showing mild interest in your…

House / (building) site insurance
Hi, I need to insure my self build project. I currently have site insurance with protek (who I would not recommend) so I'm looking for an alternative. It's now a mainly self build as all the paid work has finished (except maybe some minor stuff) so what I need is basically buildings cover and legal. Site insurance has…

Alarm Systems + how to reduce your insurance costs
At the moment we have very secure locks on all our doors (we have a Yale type deadbolt plus a 12 lever mortise on the front door)and key operated locks on the windows. However, we don't have an alarm system. I'm tempted to get one professionally fitted with a view to a potential reduction in the amount we pay out in…

Apple Watch, Is it worth claiming?
So I dropped my Apple Watch and noticed a few days later that the sensor on the back has come loose, it pushes back in but it's also now not working correctly beyond being a Watch. Apple charge around £176 for a fix/service when out of warranty which seems crazy. Anyway, I think it should be covered under my household…

Insurer's Legal expenses helpline
I have home insurance with LV, including legal expenses. It says this also gives me access to their legal helpline for advice about anything. I'd like to ring up but I'm worried that just speaking to them, could somehow end up being marked as a claim. Does anyone know if this is a possibility? I'm hoping it's completely…

Travel Insurance - no need to haggle
If, like me, you are no good at haggling, try this trick... I phoned Virgin Money for a travel insurance quote, since I had some questions and couldn't do it online. The cheerful lady talked about all the differences between the options available, but I felt bamboozled by it all. I kept asking questions and checking…
