Apple Watch, Is it worth claiming?

So I dropped my Apple Watch and noticed a few days later that the sensor on the back has come loose, it pushes back in but it's also now not working correctly beyond being a Watch. Apple charge around £176 for a fix/service when out of warranty which seems crazy. Anyway, I think it should be covered under my household contents policy and I only have a £50 excess, but would i be shooting myself in the foot losing my no claims and would I likely see a massive increase in costs next year as a result of any claims?

Are you 100% sure its covered? If you contact them to claim and find its not covered this will need to be declared when getting quotes for upto 5 years.
Then the £50 excess, are you 100% sure thats it? Do some random quotes not your real name or address and just see how a claim like that awill affect your future premium.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Huh? So if I call and ask if it's covered but make no actual claim I have to declare it for 5 years? Really?0

Most likely. They question relating to claims/losses is something usually along the lines of "have you had any accidents, claims, losses or incidents that could give rise to a claim"
But I say most likely as it depends on the exact question asked. Insurers have to ask clear and unambiguous questions, so if you're only asked about claims then you only have to answer about claims you've made. The onus is no longer on the consumer to volunteer info, it has to be asked about. Hope that makes sense!0 -
Yep as above, depends on the actual question and policy wording.
Have you suffered a loss even if there was not claim. Then yes you have and maybe a higher risk because of that.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
