Travel insurance auto renewal
Hi My travel insurance auto renewed today, I only found out when I checked my credit card statement. Do I have a right to cancel? Does the 14-day cooling off period apply? Before today I didn't receive any letters/emails saying it was going to auto renew. Thanks

Life cover, critical illness and other insurance
Hi, Apologies if it's not right to start a new thread on this, I'm quite new to the forum. I'm in the process of buying a property and have no idea what I'm doing... but I know that if I do buy it, I need to start putting in place some insurance, in case the worst should happen. Initially I will be living there alone,…

Are people happy with Legal and General Home Insurance
The MSE Legal and General Home insurance Extra cover offer with £70 Amazon vouchers has come out nice and low for me. Obviously they are a well-known company and MSE would not link with a poor provider I hope! Are people happy with them? My next best price option is Liverpool and Victoria who seem to have a good reputation…

Insurance or cash settlement?
I had a small low speed bump in the car and the person who i hit has said she is taking the car to a ford garage. She said that the sensors are playing up as well as the exhaust. She said she has been trying to fix it herself which worries me. I am worried that going through insurance would kill my no claims. Can I ask for…

Hi all, My partner and I are looking to move into our first house within the next month or so and we have been looking into the relevant insurance cover that we need. We have been advised to take out protection against the mortgage in the event that either of us come out of work due to redundancy or ill health and we are…

Honesty not the best for insurance policies
Around this time last year I bought a new car and bought car insurance through Admiral. Previously I had access to my parents' car as a named driver on their policy. When applying for the insurance I erroneously omitted to include details of an accident I had in 2011, for the simple reason that I had no idea that a claim…

Coverwise t&c - 5 yrs no prescription clause
Followed the link for Coverwise annual European insurance. Completing the medical questionnaire made me not eligible for the rate quoted on MSE since I ticked that my doctor had prescribed medication in the last 5 YEARS!! How many people can honestly say they've not been prescribed anything (e.g. contraceptives??) in the…

Nationwide Flex Plus Mobile Phone Insurance
I opened one of these accounts on Martin's recommendation, not least because of the Insurance features. I sent an iPhone 5 off for a screen repair, paid the £50 excess and received the phone back after about 5 days. The screen, whilst replaced, didn't seem right and wasn't reacting to touch very well. I took the phone into…

Hi All Im in need of some advice. MY son had a motor which he insured with co-op young drivers insurance. The policy was in my name as it worked out a lot cheaper and was the only way he could afford the insurance. Late last year he had a minor knock and there was a small claim agianst the policy. even though It was…

Just saved £30 by lowering my excess!!!! Woo hoo!!!
I got an excellent price for renewing my buildings and contents insurance with my insurer (Bradford and Bingley). Did a check with comparison websites and they were coming in at about £225 whereas the renewal quote was £183 - all good. Travel isurance with pre-existing Bi-polar disorder
I'm looking for reasonable priced travel insurance for a two week trip to Europe. The policy needs to cover Bi-polar disorder as a pre-existing medical condition. Late last year I was able to get cover for £40 and obtained a few other quotes at just over £50. Now most quotes are from £90 with others over £120. Is anybody…

Refusal to renew home insurance
Hi, last year I had to make my first ever claim on my house insurance in over 30 years. The claim was handled disgracefully from start to finish and resulted in a high level complaint and also going to the financial ombudsman. Today I have received a letter from my insurers to say that they are unable to offer me a quote…

Home insurance - Computer says no
About 10 years ago I noticed that an out building (detached garage) was lifting at one corner. I notified my insurance company (Nationwide) and they sent an assessor who ascertained that a neighbour's tree was causing the problem. They agreed to the tree being removed (on my insurance) and all settled back down with no…

Garage fell on car
My father's garage fell on my car during a severe storm and damaged my bonnet. My father's household insurance policy are refusing to cover this. The only option appears to be to sue my father, and somehow prove he has been negligent in some way (?!) - this seems rather extreme and an option I'd rather not pursue. I would…

Random question but...We've just rehomed a dogs trust lurcher (lovely boy!) - but he's on their part adoption scheme as he has existing probs with his left and right hip and left stifle (knee).
