Are people happy with Legal and General Home Insurance

The MSE Legal and General Home insurance Extra cover offer with £70 Amazon vouchers has come out nice and low for me.

Obviously they are a well-known company and MSE would not link with a poor provider I hope!

Are people happy with them?

My next best price option is Liverpool and Victoria who seem to have a good reputation on the review sites.

Which? put them in the bottom quartile at 33rd out of the 40 reviewed

Obv the majority of people dont claim, dont change their policy mid term etc and so price is the most important thing to them

I am quite p***ed off about this deal as I have been with L&G for 3 years now getting my policy cheaper each year after haggling.
I saw this deal and also TCBs £70-70 cashback but both are for new customers only, both quotes were also c.£10 dearer than renewal [£60 cheaper after deal].
I have telephoned L&G and they confirmed that I am on the lowest rate [£127 H&C £300xc] and they cannot get it down or use a code for a deal.
It looks like the only option I have is to go elsewhere even if it means paying up to £20 more this year so that next year I can get a better deal!

FYI I have never claimed off my H&C insurance and live in a basic 3 bed mid terrace in Kingston Upon Hull so do not compare with more expensive areas.

I was with L&G last year but due to their renewal increasing I checked comparison sites and was going to go with someone else. However on seeing Martin’s email where they were offering a £70 Amazon Gift Card for going through the link and quoting MSEDEAL it made their quote competitive.
However now I've got the policy they are saying that I will not be eligible for the Gift Card as I was a previous customer and this is in the T&Cs. I looked through these at the time and could see no mention of an exclusion or I’d have gone with another company.

I went for the L&G in the end - Liverpool and Victoria looked quite good but I objected to the £32 set up fee which they keep even if you cancel in the cooling off period (doesn't seem right to me).

I am resigned to shopping around each year as the haggling is less effective these days.

Last year I had Tesco Home insurance and two Tesco car insurances - they've lost the lot by offering stupid renewal prices and refusing to budge.

Can't you just start a new policy and end your old one? ie Not renew it. I have done that in the past when the insurance company refused to match their own price!

Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

It is amazing what a referral fee will do to a websites ability and desire to recommend... ;)

We've just started using L&G, so I've changed from Paymentshield and its Defaqto 4* star product to L&G's 4* product which includes trace & access cover.

It seemed hypocritical to harp on about it, but not to have it myself.

£800,000 bedroom-rated buildings cover on a four bed detached in ST18.

    £40,000 bedroom-rated contents cover.

Automatic £100 excess, £250 escape of water, £1000 subsidence etc with full accidental damage cover on both.
