Leak near upvc door
Hi all, I'm trying to identify the source of water leak near the upvc door at the back of my house. The damp patch becomes obvious when it's raining, so I was thinking it could be failing sealant around the door frame. But the other day I noticed that the door panel (the bit that can be replaced) has cracked in multiple…

Thermostat keeps switching on/off
Hello, I've got a thermostat downstairs in the hallway and upstairs in master bedroom and once they get to the desired temperature you can hear an audible click, then boiler switches off. But then they drop 0.5c then come on, and it does this quite often. Silly question but it's forever clicking off / on and boiler off…

Rental Nightmares
Hi All, Please excuse me if this thread has been discussed elsewhere, this is my first time posting. I moved into my current flat in May on a one year tenancy that was supported by my employer as I was on a sabbatical placement which has since become permanent. The flat itself is a top floor one bedroom flat with access to…

Will Radiator Corrode?
Hello, I removed a radiator in a room to redecorate and it's been sat there empty in the spare room for 3 weeks, is it likely to corrode in that time or does the inhibitor coat the inside even when its empty? I'm just wondering if it's pointless putting it back on once corrosion starts even if i top up the central heating…

Dispute with Neighbour - Leaking Roof
I am currently having an issue with my neighbour and any advice would be greatly appreciated. In September/October 2017 we built an extension on the back of our property. During the construction, before getting all the felt and slates on, we had a downpour that allowed some rain past the temporary weatherproofing and…

Can I get a replacement part for my old boiler?
I've got a really old boiler (Myson Midas B) and the central heating has stopped working. I've had an engineer out to look at it and have been told that the heating pump is broken but that he's had a look online and can't get the parts for it because it's so old. Is there any chance of getting parts for a very old boiler…

CH/boiler acting strange-help please
Hi all. I have an Ideal Logic C30 combi boiler which comes on and delivers heat to all rads even though it's set to hot water only setting. Its run from a Danfoss wireless timer if that helps. I dont think it's the diverter valve as the heat return pipe remains cool when I run the hot water. Any ideas what could be at…

How bad is this damp? :(
Hi all, Why oh why did we buy an old house!? I've recently posted about issues on our chimney breast with damp patches appearing with all the rain we've had. Well, tonight I saw another dark patch behind one of our chairs in the same room. On pulling the large chair away from the wall, I see the chimney breast is the least…

New bath mixer tap leaks
This evening I removed the old mixer tap from my bath and replaced it with a new one, an R2 Fuse. I restored the water pressure, and there was a constant drip drip from one of the backnuts. So I removed the backnut, and reattached the water supply, and there was still a drip, from where the tap joined the bath. I replaced…

My House is taking ages to heat up
Right I’m pretty clueless when it comes to stuff like this However my house is taking ages to heat up (tonight 2.4 hours to go from 17 to 19) It’s a big house (250m2) 4 bed detached from 1910, massive ceilings and massive rooms (so I do understand it’s always going to take a while / cost a fortune) I have a baxi megaflo 28…

Washer dryer developed 3 faults - who do I direct my complaint to?
My Leisure integrated washer dryer developed 3 faults in a short period of time. It's still under the 2 year warranty and was repaired under those terms. Beko is apparently in charge of the customer service. First 2 faults were the same, and the engineer described it as a "design fault", meaning it will get broken again…

Anyone know if Ikea delivery take large heavy furniture up stairs?
I'm moving to a tenement flat, 2nd floor - 40 steps to get to it. I'm going to be putting in a big online order with Ikea for kitchen units, a couple of PAX wardrobes and some other bits and pieces. I don't drive so can't rent a van and think the £39 delivery cost is worth it. I've asked at ikea and they've told me they…

Bathroom water supply won’t turn off
Hi I’m in the process of renovating the bathroom in my recently moved in to house. Was taking out an old bidet yesterday but couldn’t shut off the cold water feed to it.
