Anyone know if Ikea delivery take large heavy furniture up stairs?

I'm moving to a tenement flat, 2nd floor - 40 steps to get to it.

I'm going to be putting in a big online order with Ikea for kitchen units, a couple of PAX wardrobes and some other bits and pieces. I don't drive so can't rent a van and think the £39 delivery cost is worth it.

I've asked at ikea and they've told me they will deliver into the room of choice even if steps but still a bit wary as been told the same from other companies and delivery was just left at main door, rather than going up the steps.

Would really appreciate if anyone can confirm if yes or no. Tia.

Ikea are pretty good - if they've confirmed that just get them to confirm it on live chat and print it out

They delivered a sofa, wardrobe and bed to our top (3rd) floor flat in Edinburgh. Very helpful on the phone to get it all confirmed as well.

Use the Southampton branch of Ikea a lot as moved quite a few times and re-furbed quite a few properties. Delivery service is well worth the cost and is reliable. One damaged mirror wardrobe door was replaced next day.We live 30 miles from the store. On one deliver I asked the 2 delivery chaps if ,for a £5 each ,if they'd lift a 3 seater settee into the drive by the gate so we could put 'Free, take away', on it. They obliged and later when changing out of work gear I found the 2 £5 notes still in my pocket.
As original poster mentioned Pax-wardrobes,one thing we do is to buy the tall units and box in the top, batten and plasterboard, then cove and decorate to match room. This looks a lot better than free-standing units, giving a more built-in look.

Thanks for the replies....sounds good! Will need to go in to store to order everything as hoping to do it on 0% interest free. Thanks again.

Last time I ordered from Ikea, they took a large item up to my 4th floor flat.

If that's the case, already feel a bit sorry for the Ikea lads....worked out it's 1.2 tonnes - Pax units and many kitchen cabinets and some other things such as doors. Will give them a tip (and I'm a tight Scot) if they do indeed take everything up the 40 steps.
