how to clean exterior rust of copper pipes (green colour rust)
How to clean exterior formation of green rust around copper pipes please? I note that a type of peroxide solution is said to be most suitable. What peroxide solution exactly? Will this not corrode the pipe in any way? Any other safer or better method?

Council tax overpayment and "solution"
Not sure this is the best forum, but will give it a try A work colleague of mine moved into what is essentially a log cabin in someone's garden. She's been there about two years now, maybe a bit longer. We kept on telling her that she was paying way too much council tax. Her accommodation is a bedroom/sitting room,…

Microwave stopped working
Our previous microwaves lasted over 10 years each. The current one has lasted about three years despite spending more (£200). Nothing happened. It just didn't switch on one day when it was switched on at the electrical socket. The socket works fine and I've changed the fuse in the plug. No power, lights, nothing. Not sure…

When a bargain isn't a bargain (plants)
So I ordered some plants from one of the MSE Weekly offers. After a month or so I thing it's fair to say I'd completely forgotten about the order. Got a post office card, no idea what it was and with the many closures now it's a royal pain to get there so I'm only finally going tonight to collect what I expect to be 48…

Should a missing guarantee hold up our house purchase?
We are buying our dream home. This wonderful art deco house has had a new GRP roof but the owners lost the 25 year insurance backed guarantee. Since February they have been trying to get the roofer to send them a replacement. He promises, then does nothing. We are now at a stage where we want to exchange, but still no…

How often do you use your garden?
Before I got my own place, I always wanted a nice garden. I thought I would be in there for most of the day when the weather was decent and would regularly light up a fire when it was a little colder. Now I got my own place, I am seldom in the garden despite investing a significant amount in furniture and lighting. Flies,…

Cleaning oiled oak wood floor
Hi We recently had an engineered oak floor installed recently & it's been oiled to seal it. It was sealed with woca oil so I've bought their cleaning products. I know it doesn't like too much water & the woca cleaning products advise a two mop system where you rinse of the cleaner & take up much water as possible. I've got…

Help - cracking bathroom tiles!
Hi all, We had our bathroom retiled in 2015, however the tiles are already cracking really badly, both on walls and floors. In places the cracking is looking very linear (indicating movement), however in other places tiles seem to be breaking completely at random. The tradesman who did the job (and whom we won’t use again)…
