Lights Permanently On!

Hi All

I've installed a fused spur with a 3a fuse. I have then run 1.5 twin and earth to a switch. This is then run to a dusk to dawn sensor. The issue i have is when the switch is on the lights are permanently on. The sensor doesn't seem to cut out when it's bright and sunny outside. I have tried swapping the wires around but then theres no power at all. Has anyone used a steinel vario 3000 who could help?

Thanks

Have you got the lights connected across the L' and N terminals?

If the wiring is correct (L/N in, and a second set of L/N to the bulb), then my other guesses would be (a) that it doesn't like being switched on and off manually, and may "settle down" if left switched on, or (b) that the "Light ON" sensitivity requires adjustment as per the instruction leaflet.
  • Yes the lights are the blue Arctic flex and the switch is the grey twin and earth.

I can't view the photo but one other thought is what are the type and wattage of your lights. These switches have fairly low limits if I recall.

ETA: and LEDs can have unexpected effects . . Perhaps try with one basic light connected

After putting the unit into operation and defining the twilight setting for the first time, the light stays ON all through the first night until the morning so that it can determine light levels at dusk and dawn. The night economy mode works with these values in the nights that follow and constantly optimises its setting. So, after putting the unit into operation for the first time and after changing the settings, always give the electronic system a few days time to "learn" the new light levels. All values set remain intact even in the event of a power failure. Please do not shade the light sensor to ensure trouble-free operation.

  • Its running 8x4w Led lights. Should manage that with ease as it's way under what is quoted in their instructions manual.

Should I leave it running overnight to see if they lights turn themselves off?

    Thanks
