I have used a two pin waterproof IP68 connector available from several sellers on E Bay for under £3. It is important the connector is sturdy and waterproof. Be safe. A lot cheaper than the ones available from Screwfix.0

As I was always cutting the cable close to the trimmer, I just remounted the two pin plug where I'd cut the cable. Eventually it got too short and I bought a reel of orange cable from Toolstation and just installed the two and three pin plugs either end.

As above they also do the connectors if you'd rather that: https://www.toolstation.com/shop/p823420 -
