Microwave stopped working

Options
Our previous microwaves lasted over 10 years each. The current one has lasted about three years despite spending more (£200).

Nothing happened. It just didn't switch on one day when it was switched on at the electrical socket. The socket works fine and I've changed the fuse in the plug. No power, lights, nothing.

Not sure where to go from here. Is it worth repairing or is this just "planned obsolescence "?

  • Might be worth taking it back to the retailer. 3 years is not a reasonable lifespan for a £200 microwave. The consumer law should be on your side.

    Good advice.

My dad managed to get his oven repaired by the manufacturer more than five years after purchase. He had to write a few letters but they eventually did it. Lakeland replaced my three year old ice cream maker without any quibbles.

Thanks. I don't have the receipt although there's a Curry's and Pixmania label inside. The microwave was a moving house present from my siblings so I'll see if I can get a bank statement or similar showing the purchase.
